Bicycle Ride 103 Miles Across Death Valley!

This fall I'm riding my bicycle 103 miles across Death Valley to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF exists for the millions of children, adults and families challenged by type 1 diabetes (T1D) every single day. Their determination to overcome this chronic, life-threatening disease strengthens ours to end it.
T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
I have seen the good people in this community and I am coming to you asking for assistance in reaching my fundraising goal! You can donate to the case here: http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR?fr_id=6195&pg=personal&px=10713670

This is going to be a tough ride, but the pain I go through is a small fraction of the pain and suffering experienced by the children and adults who live with T1D. Every penny donated goes directly to JDRF. Please help us cure this disease!

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Death Valley is Beautiful. Especially at night. I've never seen such a clear sky. If my memory wasn't from when I was like 12-13 i'd swear I was on acid when we was driving through. So many shooting stars it was unbelievable. It's something I really need to experience again as an adult.....and maybe with some acid or peyote.
