Pepper Plants in El Cajon/Inland San Diego

Hello,

I was hoping to get some advice regarding Pepper Plants in the inland San Diego Area. I live in El Cajon and usually pull my pepper plants every winter and replant in the spring.Habaneros, Jalapenos, Seranos, all grow like weeds in my back yard and produce a ton of peppers. This year I left my habanero plants in the soil , will they produce more peppers this year?

Hello and welcome.Yes your plants should still produce this year as long as they are alive.Good luck on the upcoming season.

I live up in Poway...and I have no trouble overwintering plants on my porch. You should have even better luck down in El Cajon because it is a little colder up here. Some plants will do better second year (Habs, wilds) but most will not...especially Jalapenos, bells and other common annuums. Good luck!
