Justaguy's 2016 Garden Season

Coming from 2015
http://thehotpepper.com/topic/52698-justaguys-2015-garden-season/

Yay I am now a first shifter. m-th 5a-3p officially but most weeks I work 5-5 m-f. Tis life.

I have found that I no longer can seem to germinate seeds for some unknown reason. I am on my second attempt and almost out of seeds for what I need to have. The first attempt popped some and they all had helmets and died. This year could get very ugly, but this week coming up or next weekend I will be going back to basics with wet paper towels.

Just wanted to get this started for keeping a continual record of wins and loses.

Can't have an ugly year—We need your sauces!

Hi Brian,

I understand about the seed germ fail bummer.  After a couple years of unenthusiastic season starting, I find myself relearning a few things.  I'm not doing much this year and starting later than ideal.  I still feel the spark of motivation when the hooks do arrive, and doctor those seed hats dutifully.

I hope that fortune finds its way to your season and your sauce endeavors!

Good luck!

Mike

Hey Brian,

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I too have had seed germing issues this year. Second round is sprouting, but dang it's late. Looks like a fall harvest.

Good luck!

Well nothing has popped and I have even put in wet paper towel in cups and nothing. I guess this year will be all non heat vegetables. If anything changes I will update

Well I managed to get a few seeds to start and my fiance dropped some Caribbean Reds and Biker Billys in soil in her window sill and got them to pop. And a last ditch attempt in some carry out boxes got some of a mix/hybrid to pop. They will hopefully keep going now that they are in their cells and then mother nature will do great things once outside. The mix is for a local restaurant so they will restaock the freezers for when they make their house sauces. With the exception of Fataliis I should have all I need to get through to the following harvest.

Oh and I may have decided to try sweet potato slips and will get to fill the potato box from 15+ slips. Also bought a 5 pound bag of russet seed potatos. The irish in me will be very happy.

This picture helped me get away from the camera to sd card to photobucket to here. Now I think with getting the path in my brain set to smartphone right to photobucket to here I should be posting more with long working hours still going.

Just cause I have had a smartphone for awhlle doesn't mean I had to get used to it all at once.

Glad you're having some "popage" ;)

This is my latest start ever due to poor germing, I'm like what the hell?

We've been growing taters for quite some time now. Garden fresh is best!

Things are soon to go outside for hardening and they are looking good. Will try to get pics up. In the middle of closing on a house which should be mine around July 1st. :woohoo::
Harvest travels should be interesting, but the time will also give me the time to get a garden ready at the new house for next year.
