Looking for a fan

Looking to pick up a fan for my seedlings, and I'm trying to figure out what you all use. There's an obvious prk to clip-ons, but very few oscillate. Most stand-up oscillators don't crane downward.

Any input would be appreciated.

What does your setup look like? I keep it simple and use an old O2Cool fan from college. It's cheap and quiet, seems durable, achieves goal of moving air.

i never used ocillating fans for cooling.  everyone says its necessary, but it really is not. is it better? yea probably, but im not paying 40 bucks for a tiny ocillating fan when i can get a clip on thing for like 8 bucks.

i just rotate my seed flats every day, maby twice in the morning and evenings. this evens out the drying of the cells.

if you have a huge setup with lots of flats, you can get those wall mounted deals for like 30 bucks... but for 1 or two flats? its not worth it imo.

yeah if you're area is small a clip on is fine, don't have to oscillate.
if you have larger area hurricane wall fan is good for 40$

when seedlings are really small ( like one or two leaves) they dont need much airflow. a strong fan will push them over.

I like having fans on my seedlings. Never underestimate the power of yard sales, Goodwill, or the DAV. I use a couple of pedestal fans on each end of my grow table. $20 at Wally World if you can't find one second hand. I have a couple of small desktop fans in the middle of the table. All of mine oscillate. I like the alternating breeze this affords. Plus I cover more ground too. All are on a power strip on a timer set up a couple of hours on, a couple of hours off. They alternate like this during the time the lights are on. I have one cycle set while the lights are off also. I never have blown anything over. They are not that strong and I don't use the high setting except on the smaller ones. I don't set up the fan till my seedlings are a couple of weeks old. I like the short stocky stems the bright lights and fan breeze give me.

I use the little sunbeam desk fans.  Since I use CFLs and LEDs to grow my plants the added benefit is 1 of the 2 I use has a built in heating option.  Keeps the area a nice 75-80 degrees.

pc fans dangling from string

cheap and not so forceful like other fans plus can run at lower volts to get even less wind

also not as loud

How are you powering pc fans? Just curious?
