I'm not much of a beer drinker and nor am I much of an apple juice or cider drinker, so I normally stay away from hard cider. However, one of my son's friends gave him a 6-pack of this hard cider and my son wanted my take on it. Actually, I like it. Like it enough that I can see myself purchasing it and maybe not sharing any! Ha!

I think one of the reasons I tend to stay away from apple juice and apple cider is because they are just a tad too sweet for my taste. However, while this hard cider is certainly on the sweet side (when compared to beer), it's not so sweet as to be off-putting at all. As far as flavor is concerned, it's mostly apple. The mango is more of an undertone. Fresh habanero has an after-taste that I don't care for, rather like ammonia to me. However, the habanero in this seems more just to add some heat as I can't really discern the habanero flavor and do not get any of that after-taste with this hard cider. The heat level is very, very mild, for those of us who are regulars when it comes to heat. It's somewhat noticeable in the back of the throat at first, but quickly dissipates. IMO, that's a good thing, as I don't usually want overpowering heat in a beverage, especially if I'm thirsty. I find El Chavo to be very tasty and refreshing, and easy to drink. Maybe too easy.  :D
