Old Salty's Chopped Throwdown

Round: Entree
  • You MUST use all basket and mystery ingredients, entree must be presented on one plate, the point is the cohesiveness of the basket ingredients.
  • Do not hide them, showcase them, and transform them from their original state where possible.
  • Make sure it is an entree and not an appetizer; a meal portion.
Salty's Basket:
  • Pork Belly (Not bacon, actual pork belly. We ask you buy raw pork belly but if all you can find is cooked or cured, that is fine, but not labeled bacon. Even Wal-Mart has pork belly products but hopefully you can get a nice cut somewhere. Asian markets have.)
  • Shrimp (Any except "prepared products", so fresh or frozen shrimp, but not fried shrimp products like popcorn shrimp, etc.)
  • Pickles (Any style of store-bought or homemade pickled cucumbers.)
  • Tater Tots (Potato gems, etc., not homemade, the point is to work from a prepared product, frozen bag or cooked, fine.)
  • Cabbage (Any one style head of cabbage, raw.)
  • Any hot pepper ingredient (of course), must be spicy as always.
Mystery Ingredient:
  • Cheese crackers. So everyone is on the same playing field please use the cheddar/orange cracker type, found as squares, goldfish shapes, etc. Any shape will do as long as they are the well known "orange" cheese cracker. These are readily available as squares, animal shapes, try to avoid the sandwich cookies if possible, you could but would not be required to use filling.
Pantry and Fridge:
  • NO other animal proteins, period! (You can use stock/bouillon/fats/eggs/milk products).
  • Anything else you can use, but not with the intention of hiding any basket ingredients.
Steps and Pics:
  • In your final post please show your presentation pic(s) first, then show all the steps taken to get there.
  • If transforming an ingredient please show all steps with pics of the transformation in the final post.
  • For this challenge there is no pic limit.

  • Chocolate bar (any)
  • Hot pepper powder
  • Bacon (or pork belly)
  • Pretzels
OPEN fridge and pantry.

Post as separate entry with same rules. :)

Ok, that one is almost too easy. Could we use pork belly instead of bacon, though? I had to get a friggen pound and a half of the pork belly, so will have plenty left over from my TD entry. It's cool if not, just wanted to ask.
