Falafel Thread

I used to make Falafels years and and ate lots when I used to live in Toronto, so back to it and relearn to make them lol.

Falafels are basically Chickpeas that are flavored and deep fried. (Hint Precooked chickpeas will fall apart, they need to be raw).
In this version I did a 50/50 red beans and Chick Peas Adde some seasoning mix and chili powder and cumin seeds, salt to taste.
The first batch was too much liquid (50/50), but fried well in the pan. The second patch was 1 cup powder to 3/4cup water and let sit for the day, dont know what the best time to soak is I just mixed in in the morning and had it for supper. The second batch I fried on the griddle and dipped in salsa. The first one I used spiced Avocado and Salsa.

Hope this inspires some creativity in making some of the dishes :)

I love falafel!  I make them gyros style w tzatziki and sliced onions, tomatoes stuffed into a pita.  Your rendition looks quite good buddy!  :)

New batch, fried this time in Coconut oil.
1/3rd Dal/Chickpea/Buckwheat flower. Soak for 4 hours min. I add then buckwheat to give it a softer touch, experimenting for veg burger, worked out real nice. Seasoning mix, cumin seeds, parsley, Walnuts ground and Chipotle.
Tasted real good, nothing specific, just well blended flavour and was very filling, could only finish three.

Made some Hoisin sauce a few days back, tastes great and tried it on the Falafels.
I used 1/2 cup kefir to 1cup mix chickpea/dall, and started it in the morning for use in the evening. Long soaking gives it much softer texture and reduces intestinal gas.
Ran out of Tahini.

I added baking powder this time and it gave it a very light cake light texture. Forgot to cut a sample in half. Had to decide what I prefer, a more chewe texture or fluffy one, tastes great either way.
50/50 Chickpea/Dal , chili past on a couple of them.
