Found these with some "habaneros" at a local shop

Stumbled across these at a local shop, amongst the "habaneros".

Some look a bit Moruga-ish, 7-pot-ish to me, but what do I know. Please could you guys help ID these "habaneros"? Thank you. :fireball:

While I've been seeing a lot of off-phenos and tiny tail nubs at markets lately myself, those are definitely not Habaneros. The vast majority look Scorpion related, all to varying degrees, but I couldn't tell you the exact variety.

It's cool, thanks :) There were some chillies in the box that were more habanero-ey, but I did searched through the box for the ones with the tails.

Probably an unknown cross.

(Nodding in agreement.) I was wondering about that too.

I have cut them all up now to dry, and the seeds I have packaged up to dry too. If they are random F-X crosses, that will really add to the fun factor for the future seasons.

These chillies definitely smell and tasted different from the "normal" habaneros that I have had. They have less of that lemoney smell and are hot in a nice way, even in the tip of the tails. I have not gone chomping on them as though they were apples because they are all I have, and I am running low on chilli oil. So they are incredients rather than ... silly things to do.

By the looks of things I am going to head out to another local mini-mart tomorrow where they stock fresher habaneros, and see if any scorpions have got mixed up in there, of if their habaneros are "haunted". :mouthonfire:

It's amazing how much variety you see in these boxes then because those have little in common with the traditional Hab appearance. Then again, I've had traditional 3 lobed Scotch Bonnets and ones with the more generic appearance from the same box too. Some pretty small, some less so and one or two bigger than a tennis ball.

Wish I'd been smart and taken seeds from the large, lobed, too hot to nibble one rather than hoping they'd survive if left in the pod core. I wanted to grow out that beast.
