pubescens C. Pubescens in WI?

Hi all! My first grow is underway. Transplants are done and now I'm sitting back letting mothernature do her thing. :dance:

Now my thoughts turn to 2017...from what I've read some Pubescens like "cooler" temps and are frost tolerant, and while I know that WI winter will kill them surely, I wonder if I could take advantage of my cooler temps here in zone 5a/4b.

Are there any Midwesterner's out there with any experience with the various pubescens?
Any varieties that may produce earlier than others?
I'm willing to try my hand at overwintering or just starting very early...

It's my first attempting to grow them in Michigan zone 6a. Can't provide any insight just yet but they are doing well presently

Some of them are really early.
I have right now many varieties growing .
Some of them have pods and other not even flowers.

Some of the Pubescens are really early.
I have some with pods and they were started in March.
Some are from last autumn and not even flowed

I've followed your blog for a little while now, you have beautiful plants.
I see you're located in Romania? Any idea how that compares to zone 5a/4b WI?
We just moved to a new house with no garden so I'm going to spend the year preparing the ground for next year.
I've got 2 Choc Habs, 2 BahaGoats, an Aji Habanero, a Red Savina, and a JamaicanHotChoc all in 5-6 ga buckets this year. Others are still growing in solo cups...I might just stick them in flower beds to see how they do.
Your Glog really turned me on to the large number of varieties that no one else is growing.
I'm a complete pepper noob though, just curious as to what uses I might put my WI climate to work.

In Romania my area correspond to zone 6b but I don't grow outside, all my plants are in a balcony.
Pubescens can be overwintered very easy to get a good start.
I think it's an advantage to have older plants in spring.
I started a batch of varieties last autumn and most of them are with pods now compared with another batch started in December.

I'm guessing they are the Peruvian variety. I ordered the plants from Cross Country Nursery. I ended up buying 3 Orange, 2 Yellow, and 1 Red Rocoto plants.
I am definitely interested in some different varieties for next year's grow. I enjoy reading your glog and seeing the pictures. Thanks for sharing

If everything goes well with my plants I'll send you some seeds if you like something from my varieties.
