I get that sometimes too from a few beers. It's a bit of a pithy aftertaste, like from a poorly peeled grapefruit.

I don't much care for the motor oil ones, sweet like syrup/pour like molasses... nope nope, I do like the sweet ones but I need some carbonation "lift" to carry me through... not mud.
I think the best barrel aged I have had was Westbrook Mexican Cake. This OH is super good!
I'll see if I can snag you a bottle or two of Hardywood's Ginger Bread Stout series this Winter. There are over 10 different GBS variants, but Kentucky Christmas Morning is one of the best stouts I've ever had...probably the best, actually.

Yeah, I've had that one. Kettles and Grains had it on tap a few years ago. It's REALLY good!
