About $3 worth of lemon grass turns into.....

This in a few months. You just trim back some of the green and place them in a jar of water till you see roots forming. Then plant as usual. These pics are not even all of it. Ive got more in a pot. Not bad for just for roughly $3 at the market and nothing is easier to grow. Plant and basically forget.

Asian long beans Part 2. My first wave of red noodle/mosaic are pretty much done. These are the Taiwanese black seed long bean. Hardly got a bean off any of them until the start of August. Now im picking them everyday.

This is my small one that gets way more shade.

Curious about lemon grass. I understand a few people have tried making sauce using this but am wondering how. Do you chop up the stem and throw it in with the other ingredients or do you brew a tea from the leaves and add that in?

First its a good idea to "bruise" the stalk with the back side of a knife. I only use about the first 6-9 inches above the root. Chopping it up and straining works fine too.

Boil water with the lemon grass in it and strain or just pick out the stalks. Then use that water for your hot sauce. You can simmer the stalks in the sauce if you wish too. They are very tasty to chew on if you do it this way.

The last batch i did cut up almost 2" and ran it through the blender with the peppers after cooking it. The rest went in the trash after i chewed on them. The lemon flavor is intense when you chomp down on one. Its my favorite part of Tom Yum soup. They go great in spicy soup and also for tea if you like lemon in your tea.

Nice, been wanting to grow them myself, stuff in the store looks awefull and brown, so waiting till their some nice green ones to try and grow it.
