Giant jalapeños?

The local farm supplier stopped by the restaurant other day and I was digging around the truck and found these.

I don't know why, he usually knows the name of every variety on the truck, but he said he didn't know what these were. They gotta be jalapeños, right? I don't know of any other peppers this shape that have corking like that. They're just huge...see sharpie for scale.

Anyway...they've all been blended down and are fermenting now.
Of course, I saved a few seeds first.

I doubt highly doubt it, the OPs pods are definitely imported from south of the border. Willard3 would know and I am pretty familiar with them as well.
I can sometimes find them 2 to 2.5 times larger.

They are actually grown on a farm north of New Orleans, about 2 hours drive from here.
