Ghost peppers: Nasty or Not Nasty

I enjoy the burn of a good ghost chile! But I think they taste nasty. I don't like the overpowering smoky flavor.

How about you? Nasty or Not Nasty?

Bhuts and their cross's dont work here either
Something about a bhut doesnt thrill me,I just dont like them
Getting close to 20yrs since I had my first one and it hasnt changed, bhut strains will never work for me

Understandable, they can be... They make a great powder, though.

Fresh, with the exception of the yellows, which I really like, I pretty much only use Bhuts in curry. They have a pretty intense flavour so it needs to be in the right kind of dish, IMO.

Nasty. Tastes like, well, bhut.....

See what I did there?

I only have the red bhut's so can't speak to the other flavors but mine is kinda sweet, not bitter.
I do notice sometimes I'll get black seeds in some pods causing it to get real bitter. I just got into the habit of cutting in half right down the middle of all my peppers. Then I can either freeze or chop up for fermenting or for adding fresh to whatever dish I'm making.
This way if I see any funkiness in the pepper I can toss it and not ruin a whole batch.

I'm not a big fan of them in their raw form but I don't mind them in a sauce or powder. I'm not a big fan of habanero's either but I like them in a sauce and powders as well.

They are definitely tasty, try to puree them and add a bit of brine and let sit for a few weeks. You will have a new appreciation.
