OK anyone have any thought's on BBQ sauce i see many people use it on smoked food witch i think is a horrible mistake on Smoked foods. Why wreck a good smoked butt with some crappy store bought sauce.

And what is your go to sauce?

certain things I like some sauce with, chicken 1/4s come to mind, also sauce on the side for a pulled pork butt.  I love several spicy bbq sauces Big Daddy's Big Bad Trinidad Scorpion, Famous Dave's Devil's Spit, and Texas Creek Chipotle come to mind.  As far as supermarket sauces, I like Sweet Baby Rays and Cattlemans.

I'm in the no smoke camp unless it is smoked pods or powder like chipotle.

You'll be hard pressed to find a sauce w/o it though, because sauces are to mimic the BBQ process not to use in the BBQ process. For those times you do use in the process, I'd suggest you make your own, no smoke added.

When you are not smoking, they (sauces w/smoke) can be very good. Like on a burger. :)

A+ sauz

I love grilled chicken with some SBR's, or SL's Chipotle ...

I prefer the flavors of real 'cue, but bottled BBQ has it's place given the time it takes to pull off real 'cue ...

The best BBQ sauces I've had have been where people have made them on the range or whatever, and have involved some whiskey or bourbon or even tequila ...

I prefer clear glaze-like sauces to opaque sauces in general, with SL's Chipotle as a notable exception ...

Wait. You like clear, or opaque? They are opposites.

I prefer clear, slightly sweet glazes to opaque sauces typically ... but I like SBR's and SL's Chipotle as exceptions to my own "rule" ...

I've had SL's Chipolte, you can't see through it at all, so 100% opacity. It wouldn't really be an exception to your rule. So you like clear to opaque, that covers them ALL though lol.

I went on their website and they are charging $6 a bottle for shipping.  The sauces are $5.99 or $6.99 and then $6 for each bottle.  Crazy.  I am trying to source it somewhere else.

Not really crazy, try to ship one bottle yourself and see what it costs.

I get that, but it may cost $6 for a bottle, but not $18 for three $24 for four, One box for four costs the same whether it is one bottle or four.

I put three in and it was 18.  Maybe because I mixed products.

Yeah weird, it seems random. Different for same size bottles but mixing. They need a better e-commerce solution.

As a generalization, I prefer translucent BBQ sauce. I'm moving from clear to translucent because it's more accurate, in hopes it clears this up a little ...

As an exception to my preference, I like SL's and store-bought SBR. Normally, though ... if I see a serving dish with opaque BBQ sauce that I don't know, I'll skip it.

If I see a serving dish with a clear BBQ sauce, I'll take a dip in it ...

I prefer things more along the lines of Asian BBQ sauces, or one's based on jelly or sweet syrup etc ...
