I am sorry I am an idiot, but I can find no link anywhere on the front page.  I see they are now selling fresh reapers.  That is on the front page.  But no mention of your creation.  I had some of the hot sauce, loved it.  Not really planning on ordering myself because I dont ever want to be accused of violating that contract of theirs.  But do have lots of people who have asked me for them and want to send them a link.

I had some plants that just died from nowhere, had high hopes to try some pods. This is quite the tempting offer, sir. Are they as hot as claimed?

Thank you.  I copied the url.  Either the thing at the bottom rotates products or I am blind like bat.  Probably blind like bat.

Even if not, they are a really cool huge brown created by a member of THP.  Please show your support.  Besides, chances are the ones you were growing were not the same strain.  So far, I have found five different peppers being called Chocolate Bhutlah.  Its been kind of like collecting for me.

What does the SM stand for?
Creator Steven McLauren who is a THP member as StandbyandFire.  There are different versions on who started using the name Chocolate Bhutlah first.  Since one person doesnt always know what the other is doing or when, I give them all the benefit of the doubt.  The Chocolate Bhutlah SM is the one that got most of the fantastic reviews on Youtube.

The genetic diversity of most strains is great enough that if two different people cross the same two peppers they can have wildly different results.  Also, most Chocolate Bhutlah are a two pepper cross.  Chocolate Bhutlah SM is unique from most in that it was also crossed with a third pepper.  Butch T if I am remembering right.

It is a very unique pepper.  No clue about official testing, but even if it is not the next hottest pepper in the world, if you are a collector like me you want to at least try it if not grow it.  I only hold back because I do not want to enter into that contract and then later be accused of selling the thing.  I might, might write to Puckerbutt and see what it would cost to grow it commercially and sell the pods.  But I figure our farm is so small we couldnt afford to do such a thing.

I'm just gonna be blunt. And I mean no disrespect Steve, I actually hope you are very successful with this creation that took years to make. And I know for a fact that its a awesome pepper.
But due to the legal mumbo jumbo and contracts, I've been turned off to this pepper after all the waiting. I don't sell seeds or pods, I'm just a backyard grower but agreeing to any contract to grow a plant, I wont do. I do understand the need to protect the creation and to market it. But I have no idea the cost? The contracts for the seeds or pods have put it out of my realm, unfortunately Its just not my style.

I wish the best for all involved and all who grow it.

But yo, free up the pepper!!

I am looking forward to Steve telling us about the expos, shaking hands, sharing peppers at taste testings, and all that fancy stuff. Was in a thread with Luckydog and Salsalady when I first learned about the expos.  Then Luckydog posted a scam alert and I learned how much booth / table fees can be.  I know I couldn't afford to do all those things to promote a new pepper.  No insult intended to Steve when I say I imagine he is about the same.  Since Mr. Curry is right there doing it, I gotta figure his business sense is good & Steve is about to be off shaking hands, sharing peppers, and swimming in those concrete ponds.  I am thrilled for him and hope he shares the experience with us.

But ye, I dont even like cell phone contracts.

How have I grown several plants if I didn't get the seeds from SM or puckers? Not trolling just curious?
Did the person I got seeds from lie?
So many different strains being called Chocolate Bhutlah.  Did the source say they were from StandbyandFire?  I have been growing a bunch to see how they differ.  Kind of a collector that way.  If you'd like to trade pods to compare I would be more than willing.  But I think your best route would be to purchase the pods from Puckerbutt and compare to the ones you grew.

But compare for heat and flavor, not size.  The Puckerbutt site says the fresh pods are the ones they are not saving for seed stock because they did not grow large enough.

Oops! Did not tealize thiscwas a Forum Ad. My apologies for the discussion. I will becerasing my previous post and moderation feel free to erase this.

Let see, if I buy the pod, then extract the seed then grow it indoor during the winter, and transplant next years, but the pods from the seed is for my personal use, doing all this violated the contract? if that is the case why offer the pepper anyway? Please correct me if I am wrong. I am not selling seed or pod next years though.

I've the impression that this release was so delayed that has lost his charm.
Too many similar varieties circulating and newest stuff (not saying better stuff but you know the trends...).
Copyrighting seeds/genetics it's pure nonsense to me and sounds so Monsanto... but i understand all the efforts involved in the process.

Best of luck to the creator anyway

From what I read, my understanding is you'd be fine keeping seed for personal use as long as you are not trying to profit from seeds or pods ever. But you should check with Pucker Butt rather than trust what I say.

Not pleased at all brothers. They sent me little pods with no shape of the add photo. You want get nothing like the photos they have.

If you will PM me an address and promise to share your thought, I will send you two or three other strains for you to compare.  I have been stalking the Chocolate Bhutlah for a while.  I dont want to order anything from Puckerbutt because I dont want them to have any reason to think I broke their contract.  So would like to send you other strains so you can compare and let me know,

I have most strains but the one I was supposed get. 4 pods were correct on the inside and only one had the correct shape. They are just trying to make some money on their scraps. I'm just letting everyone know you want get what you paid for and don't try to contact them because they want answer!
