Forum search function

i find the search function to be pretty shoddy

Agreed. I made a few adjustments so 2 characters can be searched BUT 2-3 may still not pull results based on common words, stop words, too many results, etc. A tip is you can add them to words you know also exist in what you are looking for.

MYSQL is just horrible with search inherently.

Next year, improvements.

I've been trying to use the search function in the forums, but whatever I try, I always get zero results! Am I doing anything wrong, or is the search function broken?

It works, you may be trying to search stop words or words too small.

Make sure its set to search the forum and not just a topic. Look on the right side of the search bar....
