Mutant Candlelight vs Pimento Del Deserto

Besides wanting seeds for both so if anyone has em and wants to trade hit me up, -QUESTION

Every picture i find, every description i find, these two plants look identical... even the flowers from what i can see from the few pictures...
With that being said, how do we know they are different plants... I mean the Pimento Del Deserto seems to have appeared a bit before the mutant candlelight from the google searches i find it showing up 2014 sometime... Isnt it possible that some seeds just got mixed together or something... can someone tell me the differences?

this is the Pimento... seems identical in every way to me... have no idea what they are saying...

Two different varieties with the same filiform mutation. There are others out there also.

i cant find much info on either... but what i have read says this one is not a mutation but grows this way for desert life thus the name... but then again, i am having to use google translate for most of the info so take that for what its worth...

if it is a mutation i cant find this kinds unmutated parents like the candlelight

There is no shortage of self promoting in this hobby/business.

It is definitely a mutation, like the candlelight and others out there. Claiming it grows like that to live in the desert isn't science, more like science fiction.

this is very true... and without seeing parents of it, it is quite possible a candlelight mutant renamed for the reason you said... self promotion...

This thread in German claims to show Pimento del Deserto (Sahara) and the Mutant Candlelight. ➤ http://chiliforum.hot-pain.de/threads/pimento-del-deserto-o-del-sahara.30096/

Candlelight is a small compact ornamental plant and you can see these features in the mutated version as well. Pimento del Deserto seems to be a bit taller and grow more like a regular sized pepper plant.

Wow, very kool...Thanks so much for the info... You are right.. now that you pointed it out they are alot taller in the pics i have seen... from what i gathered from more google translations is that it is unknown if Pimento is a mutant as it has been grown so long by the Benuin (sp? desert people in the sahara) as it is now that its was assumed to be natural and not mutated... i could see why they would continue when and if they did get a mutation a long time go...it does appear to be more desert friendly and similar to most desert plants in structure... id bet it produces much better as it is now in desert climates than whatever its non mutated form is... love  to get that someday.. very kool

besides, at what point does something become a non mutant and the natural form?i mean thats the basis of all life... we are all mutants of our ancestors.. some mutations help, some harm...

The change must have come from one or more mutations at some point in time. I think calling it Mutant Candlelight makes sense for the time being because it's just a regular Candlelight pepper with a mutation. If it was breed (or crossed) into being something different it probably should use a different name. I suspect that "mutant" is also used to describe this pepper because of the strange look that reminds people of mutants in games and movies. It's not only the leaves that are affected. The flowers look really weird and the fruit is also affected and contains few (if any) seeds. If the mutation had only caused the fruits to be yellow instead of red without any other side effects it would probably had been called Yellow Candlelight without mentioning the word mutant.

I'm a bit sceptical about the desert origin of Pimento Del Deserto. To me it looks just like a regular pepper plant with the same mutation as the Mutant Candlelight.
