Looking good Paul! What you call wannabe scorpions look an awful lot like the scotch brains I'm growing this year. Were your seeds from an open-pollinated plant? What do they taste like? That counts more to me than the "correct" shape.

The seed came from John at TridentChilis.  I have a feeling
the strange weather this season contributed to the 'mutations'.

As for taste, I'm not a good person to ask.  They all taste pretty
much the same to me, with a few exceptions.

Hope you are avoiding the recent strong winds off the NE coast, Rick.

Very nice pics of the pods and powders.Excellent grow.
My guess on the last pic, Aji Amarillo.

Hey guys, sorry there were no captions on the photos.  I really don't
like that the edit function is removed from the posts so quickly.  I upload
from my phone and then add captions with my computer since typing
entries on the phone his difficult for me, and sometimes it takes me a
couple of days to get back to the post to add the captions..  I don't know
why the edit function can't be left on as it was before.  Guess I just don't
understand the nuances of web forum management.

Photos 1-3, JA Red Habanero. It's the Energizer Bunny of this season's grow!
Photos 4-6, Fatali powder.
Pic 7, Aji Lemon Drops, Caribbean Red Habs, two MoA.
Pic 8, F5 cross, Moa, BOC.

Thanks for the update Paul. Loving all the colors.
That's one of the things I like about growing peppers!
Are these flakes and powders of a single variety or mixed varieties?

What is the plant on the last photo?
Those are Fatali pods.  They were deseeded, ground and then sifted.
I gave the flakes to a neighbor and kept the sifted powder.  Yum!

The last photo shows the five Aji Amarillos in #2 nursery pots.  The
pods are starting to show some color.

Good stuff Paul!
  Thanks, Scott!
How much time have you before the weather gets nasty?
Im hoping for at least four more weeks before first freeze. Maybe
we can get to Thanksgiving!

These F5-2 pods look like candy. They are getting
soft when they reach he light putple and white stage,
so I have been picking them. Taste is fine and the heat
is :

Cheers Paul! We're far enough inland that high winds from the offshore tropical storms aren't a problem. The additional warmth is very welcome though, because it's helping ripen the bountiful green pods I still have coming here.

Nice powders! That'll put away a little summer sunshine for the gray, cold winter days.
It looks like we're in about the same place in our harvest. First frost here is usually sometime after Columbus day, so after Monday we're on "angel time." [emoji2]

Nice harvest. What are the 3 black pods on the last picture?

Thanks for the update.
Those are Mulato Isleño, a chocolate poblano variety.

Thanks for looking in, qandeel!

Our 10% probability date is Oct. 11.  We don't hit the 50% probability until Nov. 2.

By Thanksgiving, we are at about 85% probability. Brrrrr.

The past three nights have ranged from high 38 to 51˚    Go figure!

The wanna be's pods are smooth; how about the ScotchBrains?

My Bonnets have a more nubbly texture. I should ask John about this.
Some great pods have come forth recently, seemingly out of nowhere!

I hear ya Paul... I'll take what warm weather we can get this time of year. [emoji2]

I got my Scotch Brain seeds from John as well. I think I got a little luckier in the OP genetic lottery as far as pod shape. They're mostly smooth, but just a little bit pebbly, like my Bonnets.

I am gutted for you both ... sorry my seed last season was all over the place but if it helps I have red elongated yellow MoA and red/Orange Matthew Arthur's Peach SB this season ....
It's no big deal, John.  By selecting the best A+ pods each
season, the phenotypes will improve.  At least that's what
happened when I grew Trippa's TFM Bonnet for a few seasons.

Some of the later pods have had great phenotypes.  I think that
growing more than one of a specimen really increases the chances
of true phenotype pod production. Of the four plants I grew, one
had predominately close-to-true pods, and one had almost all 'mutants'.

+1 on Paul's comments John... I'm happy with what I got from you. They're at least Bonnet-hot and flavored, and very prolific. Every pod's a victory...

Lots of late season bonnets rolled in during the past few sunny days:

The champion JA Red Habanero - two and one-half
by one and one-fourth inches. Thanks, Devv/WalkGood!:

We are into a solid few days of rain, then forecast for a nice weekend.
Will be close to last gasp for pod ripening.

Hope everyone's season in the northern hemisphere is winding down
gracefully, and that the southern hemisphere brethren are roaring into Spring!

Couldn't have said it better myself, brother!

I need to keep that last point in mind, sometimes
maybe I expect too much.  All-in-all, it's turned out
to be a decent season. Most of the old standbys pulled
it through. I still might coax a few more ripe pods by
the end of the weekend  ;)  ;)
