OCD 2017!!!

Well it's 2017. Finally! Last year was a success, as far as the ground plants were concerned. Virgin, clay ground. My Chinese got smacked by hail twice! No room for error with those. Out of 12 plants I got ONE BBG. First and only. That variety is cursed. Tried for the past 3 years and some sort of calimity happens.

This year I decided to try 21+ different varieties of the BBG. I have 9 Reaper crosses. 21 and counting other varieties. I built a hoophouse and some COB led's. Planning on getting them outside in March sometime. That might be a delusion, beings I'm in Colorado. We shall see. There is only a few varieties that I've grown before. The rest are all new. I'm planning on isolating most of them.

Just started some Lemon Drops for Throwdown Growdown. I will wait a couple weeks before I start the others. Everything needs to be in order before I germinate. No turning back at that point. I want two plants from most varieties. Plants need to be woody by ground day. That's the only way I have a chance at success with late maturity varieties. If I have extras, I'll give away to my friends of THP.

My list is growing, but not much. Here is some of the varieties that made the cut.

Thanks for the guided post ... interesting read hopefully my plants will start to loose that cupping ... impressed your gaining knowledge from a British Hydroponic Shop in the States
Your welcome. I try and get as much information as possible. There are a lot of good gardeners and botanist in the U.K. and beyond. I have seen pictures of lots of U.K. Gardens. It seems that a lot of people take great pride in their garden over there. That equals a lot of knowledge. Plants are plants. I read a lot of articles on flowers, vegetables, trees and shrubs. All the same, but some need more attention than others. Rick (stickman) has givin me the most of my information. He has contributed many link and articles. If I could just retain some of that knowledge. LOL!

Here is a comparison month to month. They really have taken off. Its like watching paint dry sometimes. This puts it in perspective.

Looking good Chuck!

I totally agree, it is like watching paint dry, or waiting for water to boil. Here, it's always come ON! Show me some growth before it's too hot! Bhut the water always seems to take too long here...LOL

The really cool thing is that you can keep them growing so much longer as the weather starts to cool. That's when they will really surprise you with their bounty.

Keep doing what you're doing and the results will be killer!

Thanks Scott!

I hear ya on the water boiling. I've actually found a couple little pods. Looking back I had full size green pods by the end of August. Lots of flowers by now. I'm not feeding them anything right now. Just a little calmag and fish emulsion. I may give them some bloom nutrients as a foliar when the need nutes next. Everything is green. I little calcium deficiency here and there, but not to bad. Don't want to throw stuff at them do to impatience. Need to just leave them alone and let them do there thing. If I didn't have the hoophouse, I would be a little worried. I think that is the best tool I have.

Thanks Rick!

I'm trying to get some documentation down for next year. With the hoophouse, it changes my growing time. I don't think I need to stay so early. The solar mulch seemed to help as well. Again I think I'll see the benefits in the Fall with the house and the mulch.

Thank you Randy! I will for sure.

I use to ride bikes as well. Did a lot of jumping. And a lot of crashing. LOl! Use to be really good at it. Could do 360's and all kinds of other stuff. I think that's why at the age of 40, I feel so bad.

Oh I had big wheels to. Use to ride down a big hill with no shoes on. I can still remember all the stubbed toes. Ouch!

I used to jump a 20" bike off the loading docks. Remember those "stingrays"?

Never got hurt; bhut I know it didn't do me or the bike any good!

Just wait another 20 years and see how you feel! LOL

Unfortunately Big Wheels came after I was too big to ride one. I got ripped!

Wow! Things are looking great! It DOES feel like nothing is happening sometimes. Then other times you go out and find pods you didn't know existed.

I too remember Big Wheels, but from the 80's. I liked the ones that came equipped with a hand brake. Fun times.
Funny you should mention that, Adam. I was just out this evening and found one little plant with like 10 little pods. So I checked all the plants and only found 1 little pod forming on another. Gives me something to watch. LOL!

I had a big wheel called the Road Runner, I think. It had breaks on it I use to go down the hill and pull it causing it to slide out of control. I'm surprised I never got ran over.

ALRIGHT!!! Pods! Which variety?

Yeah, I remember riding a bike too tiny for me down a dirt hill that runs down the side of overpasses/bridges. Hit a log, flew in the air, hit the ground and the rear wheel landed sideways on my face. That bolt that sticks out of the middle of the tire hit next to my eye. Shiner! And scar. And I was worried about what my parents would say, not how badly I was injured. Lol. I was 6.
