Light Height?

I am going to start from seed for the first time.  In the past I have had a black thumb as far as starting from seed.
 
I have a heat mat, temp controller, 300W Mars LED, and a grow tray/dome.  My question is how high the light should be over the dome/seedlings?  Also, should I start with a low dome instead of the higher 10" dome that I currently have?

With my non led light which I start with are t8. I have a normal size dome which I just lower the fixture to right on top of the dome until I take the dome off and then just raid a bit more. That's usually about 5-7 in away at that stage.

For a 300 watt LED I'm doing about 16" from canopy. No light needed until your seed pops.

yeah i do 12-18" from top of pots and leave it there for starts. (so as they get bigger they will be closer to light).
 
dome is just there to increase humidity while the seeds are germinating, it doesn't matter which size you use. take it off once you see green.
