Hello from Bedfordshire, UK!

Hello everyone, thought I better introduce myself. I have been browsing around the forum for a while now, and realised I haven't actually posted.

I have been growing chillies since 2005. I remember the first year I was growing I grew some Bhut Jolokia which really got me hooked on growing (it was a real challenge to get pods, but was such a feeling of accomplishment to actually get them!)

I recently moved home, and finally have a massive back yard (for the UK!) so was able to get myself a 8x16 foot greenhouse. I like to tinker, so I have done some interesting things with the greenhouse, getting it set up for Spring/Summer. My chilli growing will be largely automated, and all off-grid. I have a Solar system set up, and am monitoring and running things using a couple ESP8266's (similar to Arduino, but wifi enabled). I have put together some custom code and website to monitor and control everything. I will be posting a couple of videos when the weather warms up. Essentially the automation will control fans, watering and lighting. I am able to monitor interior and exterior temperature and humidity. The solar setup is just monitored, no controlling, but allows me to ensure everything is working as it should.

Yeah I know it is a bit overboard, but it gives me a chance to mix a few of my hobbies and passions. Hopefully I can help if anyone has any questions about my setup or if they are doing similar things!

Just a couple junctions up the M1 from me :)   Have you started your seeds yet for 2017?

Started them last weekend in a heated propagator - Fingers crossed I get it right this year ;)

Started mine yesterday, also in a heated propagator. Got some T5's for when they sprout. 22 varieties this year!
