Peppers and longevity in the news ...

They found that those who ate more of the spicy ingredient tended to be "younger, male, white, Mexican-American, married, and to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and consume more vegetables and meats . . . had lower HDL-cholesterol, lower income, and less education," in comparison to participants who did not consume red chili peppers.

The chiles also turned them into stupid, poverty stricken, smoking alcoholics?  We're all doomed!

LOL @ the sidebar story with the sad grill picture:  "Chiefs fans so devastated by playoff loss that they left their grills in the parking lot."  That's harsh.  They even left the whisky behind...damn.  https://t.co/IJmefi0i27

Sounds to me like he just happened to randomly select participants who were less likely to give a shit about ANYTHING, more than any single other factor.  (that's the immediate inference that I would have drawn, anyway) Take the stress out of the equation, add a chile pepper, and forget all about causality.  Carefree living is the most likely factor, given the parameters that were noted.

Besides...  Aren't people who try a hot pepper just a bit more likely to be adventurous and free-spirited, anyway?  We all knew the first time was gonna hurt, but we did it, anyway!
