Stickman's 2017 Minimalist Glog

Great looking sprouts. Can't wait for them Forbing Nagas to ripen. I bet you too. LOL! I like the name and the story behind it. Gary grows some fantastic plants. Top notch! Glad your growing them.

Naga King is a good one. Charles has a good variety of that one.

You got some real gems.

Wishing you continued success my friend.

Hi Alejandro, and welcome to the zoo! :)

I like to give my plants a bit of a rest at night, so I have the lights on for 18 hours and off for 6. I hope that helps.

Rick, I'm with you on 18-6.I believe the babies need a rest, just as we would by trying to work 24-7.My lights turn on at 12pm and off at 6am.Takes advantage of keeping them happy during the night on what is still winter for us.

Right on Randy! I run my lights from 5am to 11pm. Who needs an alarm clock... the lights get us up every morning, and we usually get in a walk before breakfast.

The first-round seedlings are getting tall enough that I had to move them downstairs to the grow-box I made with mylar faced styrene board. I can raise and lower the shop lights inside so the plants have more room to stretch.

The round-two seedlings are little more than cotys right now, and I had multiples in some of the cups, so I pricked out the extras and re-potted them in their own cups.

Looking good Rick. If you manage to get some mature seeds off your Douglah 'Alphanerdz' I would be interested in getting some if that is possible? I am out of the original seeds I sent you and down to a live single plant that doesn't look like it will produce this year. Due to our rubbish summer so far.

No Problem Tristan... I was gonna do that for my own seed bank, but I'll make sure to put aside plenty for you too. I'll be using the organza bags to sequester blossoms, so it'll be "clean" genetically. Cheers!

Things are chugging along quite nicely Rick!

IRT experiment starts very soon ;) Been crazy busy with shredding the pastures, and fixing tractor flats. That and at the car dealership 9 days in the last 4 weeks. Traded up on my car and it's not been a joy so far.

Ah the joys of home and automobile ownership... I hear ya on that one Scott. Just remember, this too shall pass.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the IRT experiment works out for you. Take lots of pics! :)

I just realized that it's been a little over a month since I sowed the first-round seeds and I'm mostly happy with the results of starting them in the Aerogarden. On the plus side, very healthy plants in a relatively short time... on the minus side, the initial investment was substantial and the unit can only handle 6 plants at a time. The literature that came with the unit says the CFL bulbs have to be replaced after one season too, but since I'm only using it to start the plants I figure I can stretch it out proportionally.
The first-round plants are all showing the first signs of side-branching, and in the case of the Piment Cabri is actively growing them out.

On a side note... I made pizza on Friday night using Bhut chile oil to fry the hot Italian sausage

Some of my homemade Ajvar with a tablespoon of Laurens' Chilli Sauce instead of tomato sauce

The dough... recipe from "Breaking Bread With Father Dominic"   http://www.breadmonk.com/basic-american-pizza-crust.html

The other toppings were sweet onions, kalamata olives, spinach, shiitake mushrooms, thin-sliced tomatoes, grated Parmagiana Reggiano and fresh mozzarella. Sorry about the blurry pic, but we were hungry and I only snapped the one.

Enjoy the presidents day holiday all, and have a good week!

I just got home from work, it's midnight and now I have to look at your pizza... And I want it..

That homemade ajvar looks delicious, care to share your secrets?

Sure... nothing to it Rael... just roast and peel any sweet, thick-fleshed ripe pepper and process to a chunky relish consistency in a food processor, then add salt and a splash of lemon juice or vinegar and reduce to a spreadable paste on the stovetop. Different recipes add other ingredients as you can see from this thread.   My own taste runs to adding garlic and roasted eggplant pulp, and I always roast the vegetables on my charcoal grill to give them a smoky flavor.   Cheers!   http://thehotpepper.com/topic/36298-ajvar/
