seeds Height of LED for seedlings

I have a 1000w LED grow light (runs at 200w) almost 3 feet above new seedlings. Is that too close or fine? I just don't want to overwhelm them. Thanks.
 
That is a ridiculous amount of wattage for seedlings.  How many seedlings, over how wide of an area?
 
You don't need much light for the seedling stage.  With that much light, you could just about put the light at eye level, and seedlings to the floor.
 
It runs at 200 watts or so according to the manufacturer. I am new to LED growing. It's more like 3 feet now that I look at it.  Most of the plants have 3 or 4 sets of leaves but there are 4 seedlings in there...late starts.

Pictures of your setup would be helpful.  
 
It's a completely different animal, but my 1000 Watt MH/HPS is at eye level, in a tent, with my seedlings on the floor.

I measured the lux...13000 give or take. Heat is not an issue as it's in a closet in a cold Canadian house. I'll put a picture up tonight.

yeah that's not bad.
the "equivalent wattage" stuff is kind stupid.
 
12-18 inches is fine. farther is fine too if you are worried about hurting them.

I mount my 600w panel not more than 2 foot above my seeds when starting, the area isn't noticeably warmer unless your hand is right by the light. As others have said it's about heat more than anything else. One other thing to note, if you want the seedlings to leg out at all mounting the light a bit further can help.

I am running my 1000w hps at 75% about 3' from the table top. Got a fan running on the same timer to dissipate heat.
 
This used to be my experiment with only 1W full spectrum LED.  No light reflective material at all.

Normally I run it at full power like this.

If there were 250 LED chips, I think light will be more than enough to grow 4 seedlings.
