Growing lettuce with Kratky method

Kratky rocks. I've also had success with just cutting a hole into the lid of a used 4 litre paint pail and dropping a netpot into it. Large, 22 litre, paint buckets can hold about 6 salads or other leafy greens. I've also used plastic baskets suspended over plastic trays, without any media or netpots, for a plant with larger seeds. I'm considering trying the same with a bit of netting for plants with smaller seeds. No real failures for the kratky method so far, though I haven't really pushed the limits. I can upload some photos if anyone has any interest.

I love the simplicity of it, and it works really well. Please post pics if you want.

So, I watched some more of your videos, Peter, and am now feeling a bit sheepish about showing you my little Kratky setups.
But, I did volunteer.
I should say first, I have been negligent as concerns light proofing containers. These plants are on a site, and I keep forgetting to bring black plastic from home. I might take a few more pics of the flowering kratky lettuce there while I am at it.

Light proofing is something we all struggle with. Man I really like those tray in tray setups. The corrugated plastic is cool too. You have really nice ideas, very practical. Thanks for sharing that!
