Cactus cuttings for the cost of shipping

     It's getting to be the time of year when I need to cut back my Trichocereus cacti and get them ready for the upcoming season. I still have cuttings from last spring that are callused and ready to root. If anyone is interested in growing these monster cacti, let me know. I have a huge chunk of T. macrogonus (probably 15 lbs) and a big log of T. pachanoi just sitting around taking up space.
     If you're willing to pay shipping, I'll pack them up (either one or both) and send them to you as soon as the weather warms up a bit.

     Depending on how many takers I get and how much folks are willing to spend on shipping, I might cut them in half to make it easier to pack them in LFRBs. These cuttings are gigantic and, even at half size, will still have plenty of energy stored up to take root very quickly.
     For just the price of shipping, these cuttings are a steal and will provide you with a fun, beautiful plant to grow and propagate for decades to come!

     T. pachanoi is definitely kid friendly. Their spines are more akin to velcro than a true cactus spine. I have little trouble picking up large cuttings with bare hands. T. magrogonus has some pretty serious defense, though. I have had a couple serious incidents with them while transplanting.
     I can provide detailed growing instructions, too. With a little patience, anyone can successfully grow these.
 
I was actually thinking about growing some T. pachanoi, but having never grown it before, I am unsure of how it would fare indoors in the winter. Can this be done? Our summers are great, but Wyoming winters are obviously too cold.

     I bring mine in every fall and put them back out in spring. They don't like hard freezes, but they can tolerate light frost. You just have to make sure to stop watering them about a month before they come inside to make sure they go fully dormant. And then in spring, ease them back in to sunshine and water gradually.

I would love that. I'm a cactus freak. I have only 5 in the window sill. Most of what I have is from hiking Moab and a few local cacti.

What would the cost be to 81635? Probably not cheap.

Next time out to Utah, I'll take some cuttings for you if interested. I usually just walk up some washes and find little ones that have lost there footing do to erosion.

     I won't know shipping costs for that whole chunk until it's in the mail, but I'm pretty sure I could fit half of it as well as one or two other species in a MFRB. Those aren't very expensive. Less than $15, I think.
     Are you interested in just that whole big chunk in the picture or would you be more interested in maybe half of that one and a few cuttings of different species?

     Great! I'll cut that big guy in half today so it can start callusing. By the time the weather warms up a bit it will be ready to ship. I'll keep you posted.
 
If you still have cuttings available I am interested.
I have just started my now growing cacti collection lol.
I have mostly stuck to the edible varieties but interesting use types are always interesting lol.

     I cut that big piece in half and it looks like it should just barely fit in a LFRB. That will be a couple bucks more than the MFRB. let me know if that's OK. On the bright side, I'll have no problem fitting a few other cuttings in the box to keep him company. (T. pachanoi and T. bridgesii)

      These are great additions to a cactus collection. They're beautiful, they grow fast, pretty hardy and (if you're lucky) their flowers are gigantic!

Sounds great! When I get the chance to sort my collection I will let you know what all I have. Maybe I have something you would also like.
 
 
     I'm going to me moving at some point this coming spring/summer, so I'm going to try to cut my plants back pretty drastically over the next week. The vast majority of what I cut off is (hopefully) going to be given away right here. If you have a preference for a paricularly large piece (ahem queequeg ahem) and I'll ship whatever you want if you pay shipping.
     If it doesn't fit in a FRB, throw in some extra cash because I'll have to go out my way to buy packing materials. We can work that out, if need be. If your piece fits in a free flat rate box, though, all you pay is that the USPS charges me for post.
     I can post pics if you want to see what you're getting.
