The greenhouse is doing good

Let do this!

This year we decided to make an automatic system

The last slot is a humidity captor and with the use of a Raspberry pi  we get email alert when the soil need water

Here is the setup

We plan on adding a temperature sensor which active a fan and a water automatic dispenser.

Have a great year guys!

Your grow is looking great, Charles.  Looks like the
mold/fungus issue has been resolved.  The contrast
between last year's grow and this year's is striking!
You're getting a handle on the pepper growing thing
alright - good goin', my friend   :metal:

The fan should help a lot, as Damien said.

So did you manage to solve the mold issue?  I had a very similar problem, and while I choose to let some go a little sooner than expected (I had to get rid of some for outside spot availability anyway), I think that a week of spraying/watering with H2O2 and repoting with fresh soil after seems to have done the trick... I'll be more sure in a week or two!

Best of luck!

Yeah I did, but my dirt is shitty (potting mix) so it keep too much moisture so I'm looking forward to plant them outside in a rich and well drained dirt.

I will build an extension to my greenhouse and add my father tomatoes this year.

I will also plant all the plants in 5 gallons bucket.

Also the light is so strong that I already have a shit load of bud. I removed all of them to force the plants to grow.

Any suggestion for a good dirt ? I have a lot of compost and pig shit but what else can I add?

Just a little update

My father was gone for 5 days without telling me so when I went to check on them this is what I found out.

18176057_10212564632889175_1881676870_o_zpsuiacpzji.jpg

Hopefully after a little bit of water they were back 100% in just 1 day

It seem like I have a new disease

18280629_10212622572257623_2106868984_n_zpsi0vl2qop.jpg

There is like 1 million little prickles and I dont know what it is ( We can see it better on bottom leave to the right)

Also some plants are doing great while some are dying for some reasons.

There is many plants that just stopped growing at all while some are doing so good they are flowering

Every plants so far

I just don't know what to do.

Too much or not enough light
Too much or not enough water
Too many or not enough nutrient

:tear:

This glog is a catastrophe lol

Alright time to go outside.

I've been hardening them for 3 days now and its time to put them in the greenhouse

I'm trying to grow in bucket this year to see the difference.

I'm doing a rock bottom to help drainage

Then I'm using a mix of  black dirt
shrimp compost
manure
and concentrated shrimp powder

We decided to make an extension for the greenhouse but finally it was too big and the neighbor was going to make a complaint. (We live in the city so there are strict rules)

We will use it for something else I guess.

That what we have so far. We ran out of bucket! I still have to plant 8 plants.

I am more than 1 month ahead of schedule this year as I planted them outside June 20th last year!

Have a nice season guys!

Little update !

Greenhouse is jam packed! I have difficulty watering my plant.

18742386_10212852983417758_587831437_o_zpsngdqatpp.jpg

The plants are getting bigger and are healthy.

18741872_10212852984177777_1372271479_n_zps47tzhi8m.jpg

Bell peppers are on steroid,

18741683_10212852984057774_88875214_n_zpsiwrrks58.jpg

Automation is also doing good.

Humidity and temperature are controlled by my own custom program with Arduino.

My father was in charge of electronics and I was in charge of the code.

The electronics are in the wooden box.

I can control the heater and fan independently. Both humidity and temperature are controlled in real time via my program.

The raspberry pi is communicating with wi-fi to my house while both wooden box are communicating with each other.

One is monitoring soil moisture and outside humidity and temperature and is in charge to communicate to my web interface where I can check my greenhouse status.

The other one is monitoring inside humidity and temperature and control whether the heater or fan are ON or OFF.

Next step is to add automatic irrigation system with a water solenoid valve and this kit I just bought.

Thank for watching!

+1 Devv, that's what I thought, too.  Most of my plants have
it - and I can't figure out why.  Don't think I'm overwatering.

Your greenhouse full of plants looks great.  Sorry the neighbor
had to be such a Grinch.  Maybe a few pods thrown his or her
way would help smooth the way for the greenhouse extension.
Too 'big'?  In length or height?

Your automated control system is money, buddy!

Thank you Paul,

The greenhouse was just overall too big. It was bigger than our two sheds combined. (and the rule is only 1 shed if you have a garage so we are already against the rule)

Our neighbor is a freak. Even in winter there is not a single drop of snow or ice in his driveway. He is by the book and he literally ask every year when we will destroy our second shed.

He kind of tolerate the greenhouse at the moment and we were afraid that a bigger one would trigger him.

In the end the goal is to put a greenhouse on my woodlot which is like 1 hour drive away that is fully automated with rain water and that can be controlled by internet if needs be.

My greenhouse is like a prototype.

We still have a lot of work to do but we are doing good.

Great looking greenhouse, Chuck.

To bad about the neighbor. I actually wish I had another place to grow besides home. A nice place to get away from home and neighbors. I hate talking to them when I'm in the middle of something important. Lately, that's been all the time. LOL!

Good luck with your grow.

Chickens are back! My dad got 2 brown this year ( they are more "intelligent" )

Unfortunately, the last year chickens died this winter of some sort of virus at the chicken coop.

Here is how my web interface look

This is the main panel where I have information of everything in the greenhouse

18945141_10212928511745919_453287480_n_zps953mhou1.png

I can also check graphic of my temperature

This is the graphics of last night. My minimum temperature threshold is 18 degrees and you can see this is what I'm getting.

18902437_10212928510385885_1296323394_n_zpsitnavw3m.png

Also when I "DEBUG" my program this is what I see.

18926225_10212928513385960_193349595_o_zpsn7ymuiz9.jpg

Also optimized the space a little bit.

18901344_10212928527146304_1988456316_o_zpsakkzwjif.jpg

Just installed my irrigation system.

Now my problem is that water don't flow to the end because the hose are not connected properly. I forgot to read the instruction that was stating to sip in hot water before plugging the hose on the "t" section. Ill redo the connection soon .

I'm just amazed how everyone is growing so fast in a greenhouse. This is my first time growing other stuff than pepper in a well functioning greenhouse.

In Quebec to have cucumber in June is like a miracle.

Also I kind of gave up on the plan to use electronic valve to control my irrigation because  the code was getting to heavy for my little arduino uno r3 so I had to remove the irrigation from it :(

We installed a timer instead (1 hour each week of water)

We got one irrigation system for tomatoes and one for peppers so we can use different timing.

I just ordered some linear actuator that should arrive in 1 month. With them I will control the windows I'm about to build on the roof to help dissipate the heat.
