Over run with Ajis for 2017

Ending up with more lemon drops from seed than planned so this should be fun. Everything from Chileplants were plants,

2- Scotch Bonnet Yellow MOA ..from Chileplants
1- 7 Pot Yellow... from Chileplants
2- Early Jalapeno...from Chileplants
1- Mucho Nacho Jalapeno....Bonnie plant from Lowes
2- Lemon Drop from Chileplants and at least 17 seedlings from last years plants.
2-Aji Cito...from Chileplants
1-Thai Giant Orange..from Chileplants
2- Beni Highlands...from Chileplants
2- Gochugaru...from Chileplants
2-New Mex 64...from Chileplants
2- Super Chili Hybrid....from Chileplants
1- Tabasco....Bonnie plant from Lowes

10- Lumbre....seeds from Midwestchilehead.....100% germination rate BTW
10- Sandia Select...seeds from Midwestchilehead

12 plants in drip irrigation pots. Im still trying to decide which but they will all be the plants from Chileplants since they are not cheap
1 MOA and 1 Lemon Drop in test media of 3 part coco coir and 1 part perlite. Fertilizer will be CNS17Grow and a little worm castings
Upto 6 in Wally World bags...this might increase
1 of the bag plants will get the Ecoscraps coco based potting mix
Others in various pots on the deck
As many plants as i can get in the 64sqft ground plot....this one is all compost and Alaska fish and kelp pellets tilled into the soil....So more or less organic

ATM im using mostly Ecoscraps compost soil, Just Natural Mushroom compost, minimal amounts of peat moss and my last bag of Black Kow. First time trying the Ecoscraps stuff but it looks good sofar. I will probably get more of the good mushroom compost if needed.

New fertilizer for me is the Alaska fish and kelp pellets 4-6-6 with 7% calcium and a small bag of worm castings.

I think its too early to give a fair review on taste since its been so cool at night and so wet although this plant looks better than most of mine. It was sweeter than expected. Both the tip and stem end tasted virtually identical. The pepper was just a little larger than my thumb so it was still a little young. Pretty much just the typical jalapeno flavor but hotter than most store bought duds.

My first super hot is probably doing better than any of the other CCN plants. At least in terms of health and pod production.

7 Pot Yellow from Chile Plants. This little guy is starting to really take off.

The Scotch Bonnet Yellow MOA is still struggling a bit. Its in the same potting mix and same nutrients as the 7 Pot so im at a loss to understand why. Maybe when it gets warmer it will perk up.

Both the Beni Highlands are doing ok in a more shaded spot on the lower patio. Could look nicer imo but not bad considering the weather.

One of my Rau Ram aka Laksa leaf plants. What a great little herb to grow
P1020817_zpslwo5wsqg.jpg

Rau ram!! Love that stuff. It's like cilantro but better. Grows like a weed, doesn't bolt, and that delicious smell!!

Looking good there SMDS - nice and healthy and pods coming along!

Bonnie Cajun Belle. I tasted on the other day and its not quite what i expected. Tastes nothing like a bell to me but it was jalapeno-ish hot.

Love the Tidy Cat containers and Grow Bags!
Plants are looking good.

What variety of 7 Pot is that?

7 Pot Yellow from chileplants.com

I like the Tidy cat buckets but not for coco. Its too hard to get them to dry out after a rain and i used 3 parts to 1 part perlite. I repotted my MOA that was in mostly coco into a bag and its already looking better.

Beni looking good

That stuff on the leaves is crud from a nearby cider tree.

First EVER almost ripe Aji Cito. This is almost a month earlier than i got a fresh lemon drop last year IIRC. It was about a 1/4 yellow yesterday. I love the way these ripen.

Someone said their Beni Highlands were not very hot. Well they are not Hab hot thats for sure but mine is way hotter than any jalapeno ive eaten. Probably similar to a upper end lemon drop or a tad more. I tried a green one just to see since it looks like im gunna have a bunch. Hab flavor is really mild when green.
P1030012_zpsc9ubexc7.jpg

Put the last 2 smaller lemon drops from seed in the ground plot.

7 Pot yellow is turning and the Aji Cito is almost completely ripe now. Might be ready by the end of the day but im going to leave it till tomorrow. Ive been dying to taste one ripe. Ajis are pretty blah to me when green. Green they make a tasty vinegar but thats about it.

Aji Citos both still doing good.
More shaded plant

Would someone please tell this Beni its a earlier producer!!!!! Its had green pods for about a month or more.

Well after checking the plants in the sweltering 100F heat today i had a surprise. I have a almost ripe bright yellow Beni Highlands!!! Another looked like it is starting to turn also.
vMvyWJy.jpg

The other day i picked 3 tiny Cajun Belles that were getting close but more chocolate in color than red. I set these 3 on the window sill. A couple days later they are bright cherry red. Talk about sweet. The one i tasted was like someone put sugar on it. The heat is at the lower end of a reasonably good jalapeno but you know its spicy.

Delicious!!!
