Any ideas on why there are open wounds on the branches of my Anaheim chile plant? Otherwise its a very healthy plant with healthy pod Thanks

What is the temperature like where you're at? The damage you have looks like overwatering, with bacteria possibly crawling up the stem of your plant and enjoying themselves. You may be able to reduce how often you need to water by shading your peppers for part of the day.
