New Peahen friend

For about three years, our farm has been visited by a peahen now and again.  Has to be feral because they just dont live here naturally.  Today, went to get plant from barn an the thing was going crazy trying to get into where we have baby chicken and there mama.  Peahen was flying face first into the pen's side.  Smacking its head each time.  I caught it, calmed it down, gave it water and food.  She drank and drank and drank.  I think she was so thirsty, she was desperate to get to the chicken's water.

She is now penned up, calming down, with plenty of high protein food and fresh water.  Wife put notice in local forum to see if someone is missing one.  I believe they mate for life, so really want her going back to her family.  But if nobody claims her, we will buy a boyfriend and maybe raise peafowl.

Sometimes I dont think people believe the crazy stories I share.  Here is a photo and yes, I am going bald.  I burnt my frigging head on HID lights and it is not growing back.  So glad I am already married cause I am not ageing gracefully.

Great story AJ! There's a family nearby that has like, eight of them. All sittin in a tree squakin the brains out. Pretty cool actually.

And I agree about "already married" I think that goes for damm near every fella over 47. LOL

Peahen family found.  Kind of funny to note that they had trouble getting her without a struggle.  Feathers everywhere.  I -think- maybe because I am a vegetarian that i do not smell like a predator.  I was just like awww, are you lost and picked her up.  They were all like get into this cage you damn bird.
