Growing peppers in old car tires

Hi, I have a couple of old tires. I was thinking of planting the peppers on the ground but surround the plant with one of those tires. Did anyone do the same thing before? Will it help or any advantages?
Thank you and I appreciate your feedback.

I grow a tomato plant in a stack of tires three high filled with soil.  It's like a stationary pot, and works well. Soil temp can get pretty high on some days, so it might cause problems in hot areas.

I'd imagine that higher soil temps would be a bonus your southern latitudes though.

Neil welcome Buddy.I have a farmers old tractor tire at the end of my pepper beds that I put my overflow plants every year.Never had a problem.I dont use them as my main plant holders as I am sure the entire city council in my town would be camped on my front lawn.

Very large OD (15"+) corrugated drainage pipe is a nice substitution BUT that stuff is crazy expensive to cut into bottomless pots. I was going to try it this year if i could find some scraps from local contractors.

Years ago we used old tires for cuke mounds. Ive never used them for peppers.

God I miss growing gardens like that. What I would give to have your soil and my growing season...

You and I think alike.I am surrounded by corn and soybean fields. The humidity coming off those fields with black soil make the most of the May-oct outside time-frame.If we could just get 1 or 2 more months outside, the plants would triple production.
