What pods can you buy at your local markets?

lol I get Manzono pods at the grocery store like $5 a pound. Problem is, they are too large for a SFRB so it makes it odd to ship.

Were the Arbols dried or fresh?  I only find'm dry, here.
 
I can get tomatillos reliably at the mercado, and oftentimes, at the mainstream grocery, too.  But we got 2 tomatillo plants with about a zillion blossoms on them, so we'll be snacking on homegrown 'tillos this year.

Dried, but really bright red and flavorful (I ate one). Also a big 8 oz bag was only $2. I've never held a tomatillo before yesterday when I bought them.

That's awesome. De Arbols are cool b/c they keep a lot of colour thru the drying process.  Also, they have a real distinctive flavour; i first became acquainted with that flavour via Cholula hot sauce...

Right down the road from my house. These weren't in good shape, but I went yesterday and they had nice fresh ones. Not cheap though...
 
$6.99/lb ain't cheap... but if they looked fresh, i'd buy'm at that price.    No question.  That's really awesome to have available so close to home...
 
In other news, I stopped into the mercado for Morita Chipotles today....they were sold out (bummer) but they had a new one on offer; something i've seen/read about online, but haven't seen offered for sale locally before.   For $4/lb, they had Puya chiles; they's reddish dry pods; look like a smaller Guajillo but they're supposed to be spicer than Guajillos (@5,000 to 10,000 SHU...)
 
I was gonna buy some, but the line was soooo long and i'm gonna have to go back for the Moritas anyway....

None of the places by me have super hots but i have asian, middle eastern and mexican markets around me that have alot of peppers. Most are mislabeled or they say "mexican chile", "indian chile", "sweet peppers" or some crap like that. I'm thinking most are hybrids grown for disease resistance and high yields.

I never see ghosts by me at any grocery stores/markets/whatever..... I´m pretty jealous.  Of course, if i were really itchin to get some, the nursery by me has Ghost plants for like $4; they all had a good number of decent-sized green pods on´m.  I could buy those and wait, i guess.
 
Yḱnow, i started this thread a while back, and i still haven found time to check out the African specialty markets in my area.  For all i know, they got Fatalii and Safi chiles in there or something (but i doubt it...)
 
I´ll try to find a minute to check at least one of those out tomorrow. 
 
Down here we also get your tipical ones jalapeño habs serranos Anaheim pasilla ancho frescos caribe and Thai peppers. This is from just going to my local chain store Frys Foods ( Kroger).last year they carried for week some fresh super hots Trinidadss
and jolokias almost past out ' cause of the find and the price ce they wanted $10 for that same crappy box Mike showed us. And guys want toto know what I bought every darn one of them. Then went to another f yes and bought them out too.
 
I can get pretty much anything save around here, save for stuff like hard to find ajis and rare supers.  Farmers market had fresh reapers and bb7 last weekend, local butera chain has orange manzanos for $3/lb.  Lots of stuff is mislabeled though.
