Hot weather capsicum pubescens?

Had a major setback on my in-ground red rocoto.  I went to NYC for a week, and something went wrong.  Not sure what, but It's recovering now.  I'm major league neglecting it.  Because my container red rocoto was not doing so hot, and when I neglected it for a week, it came back strong as hell.

Went back and looked for one that windchicken had throw some pods for him in hot ass Louisiana. Cabe Gendot is the one. Seeds from Indonesia. Hot and tropical. Might be a candidate.

No, sir.  I live in a very unique microclimate.  Atlantic Ocean on one side of me, and an Intracoastal waterway on the other.  No freezes in almost 10 years of living here. Go 3 miles inland, and it's a whole different story, though.  Check out my neighborhood:

I hope you're right about the Aji Oro getting big.  That's half of a 55 gallon drum that it's planted in.  Oh, by the way, what you don't see, is that the red rocoto is just in a temporary setting.  The pot that it's in, is sitting inside another pot, which is sitting inside the opening to its permanent home.  Which is another 55 gallon drum, cut in half (inside of an enclosure that I built out of pallets).  I made a giant SIP with about 6" of perlite in the bottom, and a vertical labyrinth drain. (it drains vertically out the bottom)

Boy, even me, Zone 3 Boy, is having issues getting fruit to set. Although all my pubes are green, mean, growing machines, only about 3 of them, especially a Turbo and a Peruvian Red are flowering, and so far, even in subarctic Zone 3, ALL blossoms have been dropping.

Temps are temperate, though we had 80s & 90s about a week ago. Now we're down to 60 @ night and 75-80 during the day. All the plants are potted, all are shaded.

Last year I had an Aji Oro and a Rocoto Amarillo out in the 8th acre, and both were setting pods before now.

Hey Solid, maybe it's the dirt.......?

So what's different this year?

Hit them with some fish juice and seaweed...
.
I figure mine will bloom around November.  But hey, you just never know.

Not sure, though we had a late Spring, and last year they were in dirt instead of pots....and planted quite a bit earlier....duh....

This season is way odd, this'll be our 10th year on this 'stead, I've NEVER seen the wild fruit so profuse. We have wild cherries pulling their branches down, raspberries the size of my thumb and the largest crop of wild plumbs ever. Can you imagine the jams & jellies?
 
Funny you mention odd season...  My typical pests have not shown up this year. (knock on wood)  No whitefly, no broad mites, no aphids.  Zip, zero, nada...

any chance you could diagram that?

It just means that I have a tube sticking up into the perlite, with another, larger diameter tube sleeved over it.  I literally put a 1-1/4" diameter capped piece of PVC, over a 1/2" piece of open PVC.  It lets water run out when the level is high, but without taking perlite with it.  Much less likely to clog than a standard drain.
 
I did it this way, because the threaded cap for the poly drum already has a 1/2" NPT - apparently to insert a spigot, to dispense the contents - inside the threaded cap. The sleeved piece isn't attached to anything.  It just sits over the open tube.
 
Yup......Rocoto Red is becoming my little Obsession......hairy little bastardos are difficult from day 1. Very low germ rate (granted - they are 2yr old seeds) but 2/6 is only 33% which is pretty gloomy......considering the Super Hots are all at pretty much 100%. Little buggers are busy with 2nd set of True leaves.....and I have identified areas of different shade variables in our garden (they will be 5 gallon container based for ease of relocation) that we will move them around as Spring and Summer comes on.....am watching your Progress!
 
That one just threw buds in a #3 (incorrectly called 3 gallon).

It's eventual home is a half of a 55 gallon poly drum.

It's covered with flower buds. I never thought they'd show up, and when they did...
