2017 Early Poddage

Never had peppers this early, so I'm pretty excited. Let me show you what Im working with.

Ton of Bhut Orange Copenhagen podding up. These are hot as hell, and quite frankly I don't know what to do with em. They're really delicious green though, almost a peach flavor.

Aji Jobito. Thanks for the seeds streamer! Looks like a nutsack to me

C. Praetermissum, growing like a damn weed. I've been watching catbirds eat the ones that start to change color. From what I've read, birds cannot taste capsaicin. Makes sense, however I always wonder what's going through the squirrels heads when they bite into a reaper  :fireball:

So this is a P. Dreadie, I have been having problems getting it to flower but it looks like it finally set a pod. I'm pretty excited, these look delicious and I love the bonnet flavor.

The Habanada, or heatless habanero. It's the bushiest plant I've ever seen, and it has a thousand buds on here but I haven't had anything open up. If they're as tasty as I'm hoping, I'll have enough seeds to give 20 to every person in the world.

Aji Habanero, I think it's a baccatum? The plant is so saggy all the time. It droops low. The new growth is hairy then it seems to smooth out after a week.

Mustard habanero!!!

This one is a funky supposed goat's weed cross. The leaves seem to have slight variagation and the pepper has a bit of lighter striations, so maybe fish pepper genetics?

Looks good. You'll be picking soon. It's so nice to have fresh pods. Are any of yours overwinters or are they all fresh starts?

I've been picking off some overwinters for a while now. Just beginning to get ripe pods off November and December starts. Maybe soon with the January starts.

I'm in Ocean county for about another month. I'll be moving out of NJ for the first time in my life. Taking the peppers with me by then will certainly be a challenge. Honestly if I end up not being able to take them, a nearby NJ grower might have to take my entire plants, granted someone wants them.

If I end up being able to shove them in the hatchback and they survive the trip, I'd be more than willing to send you a box of peppers. I sure as hell cannot eat all these damn things  :mouthonfire:

I´ve left Jersey a few times; it´s always nice to get out of the ¨Garden¨ State and see some more of nature, maybe live a slower-paced life (I´ve moved to VA and TN before) but, I ended up returning each time, due to family, food, and what I like to tell myself is ¨culture.¨ There´s many aspects of Jersey that bother me, but at the end of the day, it´s home.  I love the place.  (But i still fantasize about moving somewhere sunnier, quieter, less developed....)

I hope you can find a way to take some of your plants with you; moving is a PITA that way... but I´d be happy to buy some of those BOCs from you; i love to make some powder with those things.

Where are ya headed?

The BOC is an overwinter. I have another overwinter that I had completely forgot about. It was in bad shape but it's finally coming back. Everything else was started around late February. I think it was a butch T scorpion. Glad to hear your plants are doing well!

Eastern PA. I'll be in a pretty urban area. It will be weird not having pine trees or beach sand in sight. It's definitely going to be a culture shock though, I've gotten used to the outdoors life. Change is the spice of life, and all will be well in the end!
Thanks for your comments everyone.
