DEET insect spray on plants.

So yesterday, my wife and I were in the backyard hanging out by the pool and she sprayed herself with DEET insect repellent. I noticed some of my pepper plants got misted by the spray so i looked up its effects on plants. Turns out that DEET will burn almost any foliage it comes in contact with . i quickly washed my plants off but i just wanted to share this information with anyone that may not already know. If you happen to spray yourself while in the garden do it AWAY from the plants

Interesting, good to know. DEET is good stuff for keeping the mosquitos away. I'm pretty lucky though, they don't like me that much. They love munching on my girlfriend. Maybe it's all the spicy food I eat :)

We always joke that she is sweet (temperament) and I'm an asshole...

Thanks for the heads up...I just figured this out myself first hand.
I noticed it this year after I kept spraying myself down in one corner of my yard. Two plants kept getting burned up, after a couple weeks I realized why.

And I thought BO would attract them, because a part of what repellants do is cover up your scent so they don't even realize you're there. But I know they're most attracted to the CO2 that our bodies produce.

It doesn't really matter for me, I always get fucked by 'em. Especially since it's been so damn wet down here this summer. It's impossible to prevent standing water somewhere. I swear when I get some time, I'm gonna go get a few trailer loads of the free city compost and try to fill up any and all low spots in my yard.

My free city compost has the occasional small piece of plastic bag and/or glass. The glass isn't sharp shards, it's more like the broken glass from a car window. Two different counties in NorCal. Just FYI - your results might vary.
