Leaf drop after move to HPS

Hi all!

After a particularly weak summer in Sweden I got tired of seeing my flowers drop so I went and bought a grow tent. I had a 600W HPS lying around since another year so I rigged it up and moved the plant in. Now I got all excited and moved the plant right in, no break-in period, and also changed the daylight cycle to have the light on at night instead of day to save on electricity. I moved the plant in in the afternoon so it got to have a longer light cycle before it finally shut off.

48 hours later I see a lot of leaves dropping, no droop, soil is still moist. Not sure what I expected but I guess I shocked it by the sudden change in environment.

What to do, just wait for the drop to wear off and hope it bounces back in due time?

Hi Krill

It may be due to shock, I experienced the same thing moving from T5s to outdoors this year.  The plant will recover after a brief hiccup, ok well maybe it wont be too brief. :(   Thing should return back to normal fingers crossed.

I'd say that you should expect the plants to be shocked for a little while when changing the enviromnet. I can't explain "why" but I've seen this many time when I've move plants from T5 to the outside, or from outside to inside under T5 or LED.  Every time I moved the plants to a different environment, they stopped growing for a couple weeks. They'll adjust and grow eventually. As the saying goes... "Life will find a way"  !

Even weak and poor sunlight should be much stronger than any indoor light. Your plant may be dropping leaves because the light is weaker than before. Either way it should bounce back and recover in a couple of weeks.

No objections there, problem is the nights have temps below 50F which I think is the main problem for me.

Hey, how did it go?

I recently moved two of my plants under a LED grow light in a grow tent. They almost dropped every nice and big leaf they had. It seems like the leaves are hanging in there now but we'll see. I am, however, curious if your plants bounced back.
