Piper nigrum

Love Logee's GH..its quite the place,worth a  visit if you're  around Eastern Connecticut/RI..just plan on spending a
good 2 to 3 hours or so,lots of tropicals.they  have/had the NEEM plant for sale .lots to see.they are a bit pricey but their plants are very healthy ..
.I bought one of those P.Nigrum plants in May this year..its hanging on
but could look better.
I left it out when the temps dipped in the 50's in June and ..we'll see ?
Logee's has a video on there wsite on PN..check it out..folks thought there were bugs under the leaves...it almost  looks like that or
extremely fine ground BP .
Nick you have the right temp for it...so I hope it does well for you..another online place has them for 8 bucks ..Pepper Greenhouses in Delaware.

They have lots of Tropicals for much less.although I have never bought form them.I may get a couple PN next year if this one bits the dust.
BTW i love your fruit trees especially the Avocados..I can eat one daily.Happy growing. :P

my plant died
Well dang. Sorry about that. What happened?

This little plant has several baby peppercorns. I'll have to build it something to climb on. Who would have thought peppercorns could be so exotic and neat.

Wow...that is fantastic to see  little peppercorns forming...my plant from Logees went to heaven also.
you do have the right climate...may I ask how big/old the plant is Christine?

I'm not sure how old it is. I just picked it up at the rare fruit tree show here on Sunday.

(That show was awesome! Got a finger lime plant and an ice cream plant too!! Was eyeballing a peanut butter plant... But you can't get everything.. )

Apparently it easily cultivates from the vine cuttings. I noticed that the leaves look a lot like betel leaves and apparently they are in the same family. Hopefully it will grow like a weed like my betel plant.

I'll post updates on how this guy is doing. :)

Just thought this was interesting.. on the left is the plant for black pepper.. on the right is betel nut leaf.

Figured I would bump this thread instead of starting my own.  I've had this plant for about 3 years now.  Was transplanting it to a bigger pot last night and it was the first time I've noticed anything resembling fruit on it.

Is there anyone more familiar with these that knows if I could expect any peppercorns this year? :)

Also, noticed Muckyai mention she had picked up some Ice Cream Bean plants.   I have maybe a dozen or so seedlings right now if anyone wants to swap, etc.  Not really sure of the appropriate subforum to post that sort of thing under...
