Comfort Food Thread

Searched and found one 7 years ago and instead of activating a necro thread with dead photobucket links I thought might start a new one. Winter here so probably gona do some sweet stuff :D

Had a craving for eggs lately. Rye bread/tomato with a slab of Havarti, Golden berry hot sauce and harissa sauce.

Weird having things smoking all day and not actually eating anything coming off of it but can't complain. Have been looking forward to this cheese board since hitting the new cheese shop on the weekend. Pacific rock from Quebec, Muenster from France, 12 mo aop 1655 gruyere, Brebirousse d'Argental, koko's coconut Gouda.

My cook today, but won't be ready until lunch time tomorrow. A simple southern recipe for "Pinto Beans."  A true southern dish that might find a few different twists depending on where you are. It makes quite a volume and I always share it with others. The older "black folks" I work with and share my stuff always give me props and claim I am a master of "soul food." (an accolade I am proud to have)  Aside from my smoked stuff, this one always gets devoured by all.  :P   With many of my cooks, the recipe always varies, never exactly the same.... I use what I've got before purchasing more stuff.

Ingredients:

1 or 2 lbs dried pinto beans

3 or 4 (or more) large onions

seasoning salt (of your choice)

smoked pork neck bones (you can use other smoked pork - will explain later)

garlic (granulated)

water

In whatever pot you have, the water must be at minimum twice the volume of beans...
