Crusader for capsaicin

Same problem here, my wife sweats from black pepper. We have to make everything really mild so I add hot sauce or powder mixes to my own serving. At least my middle daughter and oldest son-in-law enjoy hot spicy foods.

Baby steps, guys....baby steps........It's all about building up the tolerance~

Funny thing...my 86 year old dad 'hates' onions, garlic, hot peppers and most anything spicy.  But he loves a nice smooth ( no visible onion pieces)spaghetti sauce, and when we go out for Mexican food, he's right there chowing on the chips and salsa right along with the rest of us.

My girlfriend is often talking about how her tolerance for spicy food is much higher than it used to be a year ago. I was munching on a pile of pickled peppadew peppers at a buffet and offered her one. She could barely finish it cause it was so spicy. "What were you like a year ago??"  :eh:

I clearly have my work cut out for me. haha

Way back when I was still in highschool I used to cook some of the meals, so I would make them a bit spicier each time. My mother eventually built up more of a tolerance, but my sister didn't. I tried the same thing with my wife and step-kids, definitely didn't work with my wife. I know over the last 6 months my tolerance has gone up drastically, I ate half a naga today before it really got to me.

I'm the only.one with even a slight tolerance. Hopefully that changes by the end of this season. I think the trick is to start them on the milds, Aji Jobito, etc, and work your way up.
