KAOS Glog - 2017

Welcome to the KAOS Glog 2017

I wasn’t going to do one this year, but thought what the hell. Some of my intrepid journey may be of interest to someone or at the very least a bit of entertainment for the Northern Hemisphere Chilliheads.

Since I’m playing a bit of catchup (started in April really) here is a quick summary of proceeding through to today.
NZ Season 2016 was dismal to say the least with a very short cold summer and it didn’t help starting late either.

Apologies for the image heavy first post

Some of 2016’s last pods

I decided 2017 was going to be a different and this would be a challenge against the winter elements.

Bring on the indoor grow brigade – 900mm x 400mm grow cabinet with grow LED

Now unfortunately being the gadget addict that I am I had to start experimenting with lights. The next photo is a humble cayenne that became the lab rat (aka Tarbal) over the next couple of months.

Remember Tarbal for later …

Once I’d proven (to myself anyway) that the LED thing actually worked I decided to soldier on with some actual proper peppers

A selection of Superhots – Ghost/Choc Bhut/Reaper…etc

Back to Tarbal now and roll on some 53 days from previous photo

My grow process is nothing new.
KNO3 for 24hrs
Coffee filter in Jiffy Bag until sprouting – Heatpad and mini greenhouse
Into Rockwool with a dab of soil - Heatpad and mini greenhouse
Wait until liftoff and into pots when first set of leaves are established

This was the start of the true growing period – Upgraded to 1.2m x 1.2m tent

Sideline to the grow this year is the Amarillo Growdown and here are some progress shots

Sweet little greenhouse, Jarrod; looks quite solid. Should
hold 10 big plants plants or so, and a ton of small stuff.
I really like the double trays with drains.  Nice find...
Was the base included?

Pods look tasty!

Cheers Paul.

Base was included and front has a sliding door so the whole bottom is storage.

Pods were tasty. Amarillos where gone in the first 10min lol.

Hi All

Sorry for the pic heavy post, but I did try to optimize before uploading so should load quick

Weather has been good here except for a few days last week when a gale storm whipped through. The wind got the better of about four good plants so garden is down to about 20 now.

Doing great.

Real bad case of, "I want to grow everything." you have there.

Have it myself, seems to last a few years.
Apparently the best cure is ,
.........grow everything.

Enjoy it![emoji2]

All round looking fantastic!

That Ebony Fire is growing super fast! It will be very much like the Back Olive I thinks, its also like the "Rumba" that mrwrx is growing over in his glog.

Keep up the good work!

Gotta love me some colour!

Thanks All.

It's always so rewarding picking a first proper batch and actually seeing fruits of your labour.

Forgot about a couple of plants so did another mini collection tonight

Meet King Kong Dong and the Black Olives. I should have been a music producer

I'm also doing a bit of an experiment with some new soil (to dominate the YBS growdown)
Test subjects White Habaneros
Took the smaller of the two and planted into top secret new formula and progress will be tracked ....

Not sure Karoo. Hadn't thought that far ahead.

For me its about the harvest and Im happy.

I was thinking about trying my hand at fermenting. It will be mixed lot though as I dont have enough of one type yet. Still waiting on the super hot haul.

I'll have to sort something out in the next couple of weeks for sure so freezing until I've got a descent amount is probably the best solution for now.

Lots of green pods and an anticipated flood of Amarillos coming in the weeks ahead.

Decided to mash it all up.

No idea what I’m doing, but hopefully it will work out.

Mixed peppers with mango, red onion, garlic, carrot, 5% brine, one tsp yogurt and one probiotic capsule.

Lol. It's a sweet. Most of the pods that have come off that plant look like that (triple pepper), but that one was King Kong's for sure. Not a single seeds inside mind you.
