Seriously though, stay safe bro!

Stay safe hogleg!

I've been working on turning my sterile garden into fertile grounds. The garden was covered with tiles for years. It had a 10-15 cm layer of sand I needed to dig out. Underneath was some severely compacted soil which was completely sterile. I tilled everything, added some autumn leaves and am now burying some half decomposed wood that was leftover from a cherry tree that my dad and I cut down years ago. Hoping to kickstart some life this way.

The plan now is to finish burying the wood, add another layer of leaves and throw in some worms. Then top it all off with some quality soil I'm going to order. It's a long-term project but I hope to have some success coming season already.

Surviving these gott damm FIRES, fugg me! Its raining ash outside and too smoky to have a cig, the air is stonger.

Sonoma and Napa co. burst into flames last night with 30-40mph winds

Just to clarify brother.....its too smoky outside for you to go out and intentionally inhale smoke??

I have pruning and picking on the to-do list.

Getting pretty cold around Minneapolis tonight. I already brought in 4 plants and can probably choose 2 - 4 more. The others will get shuttled into the garage/under tarps for hopefully another week or so before kissing the season goodbye.

And be safe hogleg!

Just got a new piano so i'll be brushing up on that this week. Other than that, probably lots of yard work. The winds have been brutal the last couple of days so theres broken branches and crap all over the front and backyard. The pool also needs a little love too. The winds blow all kinds of debris into it. The chores are never ending.

We had a hurricane so I hauled all of my 30-something pots to a protected porch and stuffed them closely together for support. The plants all did well but getting them apart again was a beatch. Many leaves, flowers and unripened pods fell off during the untanglement.

At least we had no fire. Good luck hogleg. It looks rough out there.

I got maybe enough gochugaru for a 2lb batch of kimchi. Most of it is sun dried but the sun would not cooperate for the rest of them. Dried at 105F-110F. All seeded and broken up into large flakes atm.

Might just grind them finer and make some jjiggae instead since i dont have much.
