Do different peppers burn mouth in different places?

I've watched a few pepper reviews on youtube and they always describe where the burn is taking place in their mouth.  Whenever I eat a pepper my whole mouth is lit up.  not a concentrated burn on my tongue, throat, etc.  I just assumed where ever the capsaicin oil or placenta hits is where your mouth will feel it. Do I not recognize the precise burn location because I'm a novice pepper eater?

Nah, not at all. My whole mouth eventually gets lit up. Some pods (for me anyway) start off in different parts though. A couple examples off the top of my head:

Chocolate types (and most superhots) always seem to target the back of my tongue and throat, and warm down into my chest

Most Bonnet types give me an "all over" mouth burn

Fataliis AGGRESSIVELY attack the sides of my tongue, and always make the very tip of my tongue feel like it got slammed in a mousetrap ;)
