Failed Pepper Projects... Yours ??

Give up on seeds germinating , then recycle the germination mix for new seeds.
4 seeds germinate in a cup you planted 2 seeds in !!
Who else have done that?

I had a volunteer tomato plant come late to the party. It didn’t germinate when I was starting from seed. The seed got mixed in with some peppers that I transplanted. Then it grew up with peppers. It produced good. Happy

My first harvest of the season! ... A very small cherry/ball chilli. The plant had such promise, it was the first to really take off but alas it got cooked in the sun and I probably underfed it. Damping off, sun damage and low N have been my mortal enemies (but know I now what to fix). Fortunately I've got dozens more plants and it's still early on in the season.

It's my first year.
1. Overwatered
2. Underwatered
3. Too much sun
4. Thought I wouldn't have a bug problem (currently need to deal with some aphids)

Too many mistakes to list but I'll try

Too much water
Not enough water
Too much fertilizer
Not enough fertilizer
Too much sun
Not enough sun
Whiteflies galore
Aphids on purchased plants
A delightful plant from the flea market with pepper weevils

The list goes on...

The good news...

Killed the bugs, figured out a good portion of the rest  and still got a good harvest off of several plants.  Learned a crapload  and I am stoked about my second season.

Peppers are tricky in Florida but it was a lot of fun

I’m probably going to have a new list of mistakes I make. Trying to over winter a Tabasco plant in less than ideal conditions. Saved some seeds just incase. [emoji39]

I have had the trickiest time with over-watering, under-watering, heat vs. cold, and of course, bugs.  The bugs were the easiest.  Soap, neem, hexes, etc.  Now I have a Ghost pepper plant that is thriving, probably 4 ft in height with 8 pods and a bunch of flower buds, and then there is my habenero of the same age that is maybe 8-inches tall, leaf curl, and I have transplanted into a pot to dry it out.  Had it in a double-bucket setup, but it just never got dry enough.  Then I built a frost box to protect seedlings/younglings during freezes.  Worked great the first day we got frost at ~40F. (This is Florida, for reference).  Next day I had to run out, got back in the afternoon, and had forgotten to prop up the lid.  Cooked half my sprouts.  .

Still have a half dozen of each, and was starting some Scotch Bonnets from local Farmer's market peppers (leftover seeds) anyway, so 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

Those Scotch Bonnets reminded me of Datils from st. Augustine.  So we'll see how the rest of our winter (could be 2 more days or 3 months) goes.

Same here with my 1st Grow. After 3 weeks there were no-shows from my little batch of King Nagas and Chocolate Bhut seeds, so the germination mix went out of the seedling tray and into the compost heap. 3 days later, 2 x happy little plants popped up in the compost heap and they are now growing happily in containers......so we will have to wait for fruit to form and ripen before we know what they are.......
