contest Growdown Throwdown 2018 Yellow Brain Strain!

I suppose it's better than nothing... I had bought a few bags of the cheap pennington potting soil from walmart a while back as a generic for growing some stuff I didn't take too seriously. Since it is probably a little more nutritious than a jiffy pellet, I took my runt YBS and threw it in a solo cup filled with the pennington to see how it does.

It looks so very tiny in it's new home. The soil isn't nearly as drenched and muddy as the light makes it look.

Looks good from my house ;)

I bought a bag of that on clearance, have yet to open it. What did you think of it?

Are you bottom watering? If not, please do when the cup gets light.

And good luck!

I just love the "birds of prey".

The coolest thing I've ever seen regarding them was a harvest of cukes in late October, they plant August 15th here. As they ran the equipment through the field, hundreds (like 400-500) of Falcons and Hawks were circling and diving after the rodents. I guess the noise was a calling card for them ;)

Potted up the two leaders.  Also a hawk (Cooper's Hawk) stopped by.

Yes. Cheap and work wonders
love using rice hulls when I have them. I use them sometimes in my mash tun for certain grain brews, and really have loved using them in my seedling mixes. No helmet heads ever when using them, light airy mix, all is well.
