contest Growdown Throwdown 2018 Yellow Brain Strain!

The plant is loving the swings between cooler days and warmer days.  It will be tent time soon.

I love YBS but eating it every other day is getting to be a bit much.  :D

Did you get your seeds in the mail when it was very cold? I no longer order seeds between Dec. 1 and March 1, as by my own experiment I found that if pepper seeds freeze , the germination rate goes down considerably and even if they germinate they may be slightly damaged. Several years ago I took 20 of my saved Ghost pepper seeds and split them into two groups of 10. I left 10 as they were and put the other 10 in the freezer for 4 days. I got 8 of the non frozen to germinate but only 3 of the frozen ones germinated. Not a scientific test, but good enough for me. The trailers that transport mail are not heated.

So that may be the Issue, the four Aje Lemon from the last Growdown are growing identically in two pots. So their consistent slow grow. Im gonna take one each and put them in a hydroponic and see what happens. My YBS is now 27cm/10.6", I pumped some ferts in him.

Finally got a decent pull! Apparently my scale wont go over 270g so I had to do it in multiple takes. I put all the previously weighed pods in the background so yall know there was no funny bizness [emoji16]. Also pulled another sammich pod yesterday! Should have another good one in a few days.

Today's haul was 655.

Has anybody been paying attention to their average weight per pod? Mine are averaging about 10g per, but getting several in the 14-15 gram range. Also getting a lot of 7-8 gram pods. Just wondering if anybody has managed to get a better average than that, and what factors do you think effect that sort of thing? Heat, soil, feeding regiment, water?

I'm having to get creative now, because as my grandpa used to say, "I have peppers running out of my ears!" Actually, it's pretty simple. 1 1/2 cups of ac vinegar, 1/4 of a large onion, 1 tbs minced garlic and 14 large YBS. Blend, boil, strain/filter. This stuff is fire, in more ways than one! Just thought i'd break the monotony[emoji3].

Picked another 136g + the 1665g subtotal for a new total of 1801 grams.

I'm thinking I should hit at least 2 kilos in the next week or two. Not bad for New England. You folks in the more southerly climes have a bit of an edge in the length of your season, but you still gotta have mad skilz to do as well as some of you have. Good on ya! [emoji106]
