Buncha Malarky 2018 edition

Welcome to 2018
There is probably not going to be a whole lot of action around here until March 1st when I'll start soaking seeds.
I was overwhelmed in 2017, starting in January was not a good idea. This year I plan to pot up the plants in stride and avoid being root bound. Starting in March and outside in buckets in the middle to end of May. I'll probably try to sell excess plants locally on CL/FB as well, instead of trying to keep every seed I sprout alive myself.

2018 Grow List so far...
SB7J
7pot Cinder
PDN x Bonda
Peach Bhut-WM strain
CGN21500-WM strain
LemonDrop
PapaDreadie SS-Good Pheno from TGCM
Aji Limo Rojo
Aji Limo Amarillo
Aji Panca
Giant Red Rocoto
Peruvian Red Rocoto-OW
Yellow Brainstrain-Growdown

I'm really struggling to decide if I should grow Aji Amarillo, Big Red Rocoto's, and maybe even Panca now that I found frozen amarillos/rocotos and panca paste at the store now. And the amarillos and rocoto's take soo long to ripen...
I'd like to fit in Aji Dulce, Aji Arnaucho, cgn23209, SugarRush Peach and Trepadeira do Werner, but I don't know.

I've got enough BahaGoats in the freezer to last me I think. I actually might have enough Amarillos too now that I think of it.
I'm growing cgn21500 just to finally get it off my bucket list. I hope its good.
The more I type, the more bummed i get that i can't grow all these...

Lots of rain or pretty harsh sun has been the story here so far. Some of the plants are looking a little pale so i'm going to start dosing them with a maintenance dose of FoliagePro 9-3-6.

I'm super excited that my SB7J's are starting to set pods that look like true pheno's!!!

Trepadeira do Werner is soldiering on as well, setting scores of little globe pods

And now I have to try making the Aji De Gallina ;)
Aji de Gallina is definitely one of my fav dishes now. (Thanks Dale)
it has a home-food feel/quality about it that I love, and a little spice and tropical flare from the amarillos.

imho, my homegrown aji's taste a lot better and are a little hotter than the store-bought frozen aji's.

I sprinkle a little peach bhut powder in there if i want more heat but i don't want to through off the dish with dark pepper flakes all over.

OW Peruvian Red Rocotos
3as8qvi.jpg

My poor OW got blown off a table during a storm. A few branches were broken and really nice pods lost. The roots were exposed and probably dried a bit overnight and I transplanted it to a bucket. Its been a couple weeks but the plant isn't the same. not a whole lot of new growth. I'm hoping after picking pods It'll kick into gear again. Worst case scenario, I'll try and cut some clones for the aerogarden. I love these peppers

P. Dreadies ripening!!!
The early pods are all off pheno but at least they are yellow!
There are lots of correct phenos and even some freaky tails on the next wave

These two are perfection!
CGN21500 is an all time great for me as far as flavor and man I can't wait to get some of the Trepadeira do Werner. Thing throws a lot of pods looks like!!!

got my wife a succulent. told her not to touch it or water it. just love it.
I'm gonna see if it'll grow in my grit mix.
Hawarthia of some kind. i read this should be a good indoor variety that will survive with lower light.

I read that HighWest has changed their recipe for DoubleRye! they are starting to use their own juice ( much younger) instead of the 16yo sourced rye in their blend. So I wanted to try the older stuff before you can't get it anymore. So this is a blend of 2 and 16yo rye. (i know the 16yo is probably not a high percentage, but still). Any bottle that has a batch number starting with 18 is the new recipe.

Its really good neat. can't wait to try it in a manhattan.

Man, I'm jealous of the bees! The bumblebees always seem drawn to Pubes for some reason.

Nice Pics. It looks like you'll be getting quite a few rocoto pods this year.
My love of peppers will probably never override my hatred of...well..anything with a stinger.

Dang, Matt. Your glog is so pixel rich it takes a full 30 seconds for just this page to load! Really nice looking Oros, you planted March first??? So did I, and am only now getting purple polka dots.

I swear, I gotta pay a little more attention to what music you guys are playing for your plants....

yup March 1st. i don't think i'll ever start earlier again. all this Jan 1st stuff is nonsense for me.

I munched half that cgn21500 pod. Smelled really nice and fruity, no skunk.
unfortunately i didn't get any of the tropical fruity flavor i was hoping for. I know I'm not a very good taster, but i was hoping for something. Hab heat for about 4 minutes and then it started going down. Made my nose run, but thats it.

oh well. one less pepper i need to grow. i'll probably turn it into salsa(pineapple)

sorry about all the pixels, i'm not sure how to tone that down. sometimes its nice to have the huge hi def pic, sometimes its just too much
