Show Us Your Pubes! Group GLOG From The Rocoto Giveaway

I am starting this thread for folks who received some Pubescens seeds from me through the Pubescens giveaway. I figured it would be fun to see everyone's progress, plus have a general place to share any pics, growing techniques, and general Pubescens knowledge. I wish everyone great success in their gardens this year.

Even if you didn't receive seeds from me, and want to contribute info about your Pubescens plants this year, please feel free to share.

I guess I might as well start this thread off. I decided to germinate some seeds from this pack some friends brought me from Peru last year. I'm flying to Cali tomorrow morning so paper towel germination is perfect!

I'm interested to see how this commercialized variant of Pubescens will fare on the East Coast. Most of the Peruvian Pubes I've grown here in NOVA love the weather, and absolutely love the late Summer/Fall. I'll probably grow out four of these plants in 10 gallon pots this year, and give out the rest of the plants to Peruvian friends/neighbors.

I also started germinating some:
Aji Largo
Peruvian Red Rocoto
Giant Yellow Rocoto
Rocoto Arequipeño
Turbo Pube
Ecuadorian Red Rocoto
Guatemalan Red Rocoto
Miraflores Market Yellow
Aji Oro
Mini Red Rocoto

I'll be germinating more once I get back.

Me too please.....I would love to try growing those beautiful big yellow pods now that I'll have a green house for late season plants.

So far my seeds have yet to sprout except an orange Rocoto I had from last yr.

Just gave them an extra shot of seedling nutes last night. will post a pic once they sprout.

Thanks again for the seeds

First time seeing this thread. Ill take pictures of mine tomorrow if I remember. I received my seeds in October before you did your Pubescens giveaway. So, some of mine were started earlier.

Linda
Great! Post them up, man!

In the first picture I have 1 Peruvian Red Rocoto in the back, biggest plant that I started in late October.  The next 2
largest in the middle is Aji Limo Rojo, also started late October..  In front is Aji Arnaucho started same time.
Second picture is my only Aji Oro, that one was harder to get gemination for me.  I have some more Peruvian Red
Rocotos, but those are smaller, started later.  Also have Aji Largo, lots of Aji Dulce, not a Pubescens, but best germination
out of all the seeds you gave me, that's why I have so many, which is not a bad thing.  I also have 2 more small Aji Arnaucho,
which are growing slowly and kinda tall for it's size.

I purchased a Red Rocoto online in spring of 2017 but it did not grow very fast.  At the end of the season it had one small pod on it, and I re-potted the plant into a bonsai size container to overwinter.  This is what I had on January 31 of this year.  It is amazing that a plant this size had no problem supporting such a large pepper!  A week later I tried the Rocoto pepper for the first time and now believe it is my favorite pepper for texture, taste, and heat.
