seeds Airport X-Rays vs. Pepper Seeds

I moved to Guadalajara, Mexico and brought all of my gardening/grow gear with me. I'm ready for action!

However, getting superhot seeds here is basically impossible. The only way to do it is to have friends from the USA bring them to us in their luggage.

Since all airport luggage (checked and carry-on) is run through an X-Ray machine, will this damage the seeds?

(I planned ahead for this move and produced my own Butch-T and Ghost seeds last year. I got them into Mexico by driving my car from Sonoma. No x-rays that way. :-) Those seeds are all happy and in the process of germination. )

I checked the fedex site didn't say anything about pepper seeds being prohibited for shipping to Mexico.

I imagine you could just order seeds and pay lil extra for shipping?

K here's what we'll do. I've arranged for a drop point with a man known only as "el dulce". Bring $46 American dollars to the taqueria at 3 o'clock. Put the money in a pack of Marlboro lights (this is very important. they must be Marlboro lights). Hand him the pack and he will then hand you a jelly filled donut. Inside that jelly donut will be the seeds requested. Don't mess this up..

i've never had seeds get confiscated when mailing international. I just do the ole padded christmas card. What in particular are you looking for? I'm sure members here would be happy to trade for some landrace local seeds.

... but, if you eat the peppers they produce your sons will have three testicles.

Australia has one of the strictest customs departments in the known universe, BUT a "friend" of mine, let's call him Kevin, has no trouble at all getting seeds from all over the world.

You see, Kevin has many, many birthdays every year, and is always receiving birthday cards filled with seeds from all the great folk here at THP.

Most packages will get scanned, whereas a card will most likely not.

Good luck, and I wish you well, as does Kevin.  :P

WHEW! I've got a friend coming to visit in a few days. I ordered a ton of seeds online, sent to his house. :-)

The X Rays at airports will definitely not damage your seeds. I've had friends bring me pepper seeds from Peru several times in their carry ons.
