Devv-2018-Loving life in the dirt

Here we go again! ;)

This year will be a mix of in the dirt and container growing. Mostly in the dirt. I have some OW's going, 5 are cut back, 6 are pubes that still spend time outdoors as the weather allows. I have pH issues in the dirt, working on that, and hoping for some better results this season. One thing the wife and I decided is to NOT grow into the fall again. I was pulling plants the same weekend I started my seeds. I'm using 4 2 bulb T8's with 6,500K bulbs, and 1 4 bulb T5 with I believe 6,500K bulbs.

I retire in a year and a half. And I may have some good consulting options on my plate, if that's what I want to do. But right now I dunno. If I do decide to do some sort of Ag related endeavor, it would have to be worth my time. And that requires some research and thought ;)

...and I can hear your theme song:

"peppers, sagebrush, rosemary and time"    think Simon and Garfunkel

Yes, if you can find people to buy it lol

Stuff they sell at the grocery store is a few twigs for 3 bucks. All the ones I've seen have been local, not sure how much rosemary gets shipped nationwide. I'd also guess the grocery stuff is mostly hydro.

A few twigs for $3.00 would be cool ;) I'm not kidding that stuff grows like crazy here and doesn't need to be watered.

What's been keeping us so busy?

Fantastic harvest!  Looking at all those tomatoes makes me tired just thinking of all the work to process them.  Thank God I don't have a harvest coming like that!

Antep Aci Dolma?
Never heard of it.
Looked it up.
Ooohh!
Scott, if you can, save me some seed!

Everything's looking good and tasty here, Scott. I was talking just yesterday to someone about processing tomatoes. I'll send her your devtex link.

Here's something to consider for your future rosemary empire, extract the essential oils for sale. That's some high dollar stuff.

I’ll have to try your recipes this year. I made pizza sauce and ketchup , both Mrs Wages packages with mine last year. Funny thing is I adjusted the ketchup recipe some by adding less sugar then what the package called for and it tasted more like tomato soup than ketchup. [emoji16]

All looking stellar Scott! How is your garden producing now? About the same as last year or better? We're a few weeks behind you here... My tomatoes have just started budding up, and the peppers are finally starting to green up and grow now that the temperatures overnight are finally consistently in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

It's in the pull them up stage. I had great production except for the Chinese. The only real producers were the PDN crosses from Paul, and the Growndown plants. I still have quite a few in containers and 4 plants to pull in the morning. I'm sticking to the short season this year. I need a break and the place needs me more then the garden. Produce we got!
