Gauging Interest in pepper plugs

So i'm debating on planting extras this year depending on interest here. I got a lot of older seed stock that needs to get used up. A lot of fairly interesting varieties, my own hybrids and what not.

Is there much of an interest here in ordering plant plugs? I made dividers that can fit 4 plants per sfrb.

If so, what kind of varieties would you guys primarily be interested in? Reapers, scorpion ect ect ect are all fair assumptions.

I did already plant a bunch of Papa dreadie scotch bonnets as I could see there being a demand for those.

I don't have much room and starts will be grown primarily indoors as my greenhouse season probably won't be until late march-april.

Other venues for sale would be fb groups, instagram. Maybe etsy? Eventually I need to work on my own website.

assuming I get any omni bonnets to germinate i'll set one or two aside for you. I need to try different bonnets this year. Moa red never seem to produce that well and freeport orange wasn't all that impressive last year.

the shipping is the most annoying part, if you can do it reliably / quickly then it can be decent money.

For shipping peppers jim duffy / chilewoman / cross country nurseries have most of the market.
People usually go to smaller vendors like us if they want specialty stuff that the others don't have. Or if you can beat above prices.

if you are just looking for raw sales numbers i think selling local is better if you know a couple markets / plant fairs in late spring.
Also i've thought about partnering with local nursies to sell them a few trays of starts, have to sell yourself as specialty / ornamental / superhot vendor. gotta give them a decent margin though so might not be very much $ in the end.

Yea I know there's no way I can compete with duffy and the likes. I don't even have the room or climate to pretend. Maybe i'll do some wilds , thai, good baccatum and chinense you don't typically see at those vendors. Not trying to make a fortune just suppliment other growing costs. All about trying to break even. Wife already sees it as a money pit and shot down starting a farm.

I'm probably gonna be doing the same. I'll be doing farmers markets and what not but also considering online and local things like facebook marketplace and maybe even craigslist. Just had 20 more 72 cell seedling trays delivered today. I really hope I can sell what I plan to grow otherwise i'm gonna be in way over my head. Not just growing peppers either. Growing a bunch of different things

Personally I would rather pay THP members more money for their efforts and products than buying them from other sources. I'm all for supporting you guys here !!!!

I think offering your crosses on this site would be a good idea though. I would be interested in those. I have seeds for some of them already but maybe the ones that I don't have already I would be interested in purchasing. Kinda a short windowing for selling plugs though. If they get too big, they'll either get root bound or you'll be forced to ship in a larger box right?

Exactly unfortunately.

Hell yes! I don't have the room to start seedlings this season, but I'm going to try to get in a community garden. Or just plant in containers on my balcony. And I trust that you're most likely going to have quality, flavor-oriented varieties and crosses for sale. Not just orange habs, red bhuts and reapers.
When do you think you will have a list of offerings?

probably start having plugs ready in a month or so. I kinda forget about the growth rates. I need to go through my seeds.

Which is another thing I need to start thinking about is seed sales. i'm always so quick to just give them away. Of course that's also what makes this forum great.

yes there is interest. Lots of people don't want to pay for 6 or 12 plants like from Duffy or CCN and the shipping is expensive from them.
Much rather get a few good ones from you and Juanito. Count me in for a SFRB of something.
